Job description
The Physician at AIM for Wellbeing is a board-certified or board-eligible clinician with a primary care foundation and a deep commitment to functional and integrative medicine. This provider delivers comprehensive, root-cause-driven medical care as the clinical anchor of a multidisciplinary integrative team - working in true partnership with chiropractors, acupuncturists, dietitians, health coaches, massage therapists, Rolfers, and energy healers to produce whole-person care outcomes that conventional medicine alone cannot achieve. The Physician brings clinical depth to the full spectrum of functional medicine diagnostics and therapeutics - from advanced laboratory interpretation and complex treatment planning to nutraceutical protocols, lifestyle medicine, and mind-body integration. This provider also serves as a clinical educator within the practice, participating in monthly interdisciplinary learning, mentoring learners, and contributing to AIM's research and quality improvement initiatives.
Education
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school - required.
Completion of ACGME-accredited residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Sports Medicine, Preventive Medicine, or a related primary care specialty - required.
Completion of IMPOE Fellowship or equivalent functional/integrative medicine fellowship - strongly preferred.
IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) or active IFM candidacy - strongly preferred; actively supported by AIM.
Additional training in functional medicine, lifestyle medicine (DipACLM), integrative oncology, or clinical nutrition is a meaningful plus. Experience
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Sports Medicine, or related specialty - required.
4-5 years of post-residency clinical experience preferred; recent residency graduates with IMPOE or equivalent fellowship will be considered.
Clinical experience in functional, integrative, concierge, or direct primary care medicine is a significant advantage.
Experience ordering and interpreting advanced functional diagnostics strongly preferred. Required Skills & Knowledge
Deep clinical knowledge of functional medicine systems biology and the matrix approach to gastrointestinal, hormonal, cardiometabolic, neurological, immune, and musculoskeletal health.
Proficiency in advanced functional diagnostic interpretation: micronutrient testing, hormone panels, GI mapping, organic acids, heavy metals, and environmental toxin testing.
Fluency in nutraceutical and pharmaceutical-grade supplement protocols; ability to manage supplement-drug interactions.
Exceptional clinical communication skills - ability to discuss complex functional medicine concepts in clear, empowering language.
Strong time management, workflow efficiency, and organizational discipline in a full clinical schedule.
Proficiency with Cerbo EMR or demonstrated ability to quickly master an integrative practice EMR (training provided).
Commitment to HIPAA, OSHA, Ohio Medical Board regulations, Medicare documentation standards, and all applicable professional requirements.
Licenses, Certifications & Registrations
Active, unrestricted Ohio Medical License (MD or DO) - required at time of hire.
Board Certification or active Board Eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Sports Medicine, or related specialty - required.

IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) - strongly preferred; AIM will support certification.
Lifestyle Medicine certification (DipACLM) - preferred; supported by AIM.
HIPAA training required upon hire and maintained annually.
Conduct comprehensive new patient evaluations using a functional medicine intake framework: full health history, illness timeline, antecedents, triggers, mediators, and systems review; document all findings in Cerbo EMR.
Order and interpret advanced functional diagnostics - including comprehensive metabolic panels, micronutrient testing, hormone panels (DUTCH, salivary, serum), GI mapping (GI-MAP, Genova), organic acids testing, heavy metals/environmental toxin panels, and genomic testing.
Develop individualized, root-cause-driven treatment plans integrating therapeutic nutrition, targeted supplementation, pharmaceutical interventions as appropriate, lifestyle medicine, and integrative modality referrals.
Manage a broad range of complex chronic and functional health conditions: cardiometabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune conditions, GI dysfunction, thyroid and adrenal disorders, hormonal imbalances, cognitive decline, chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, chronic pain, and environmental illness.
Provide ongoing follow-up care; reassess functional diagnostics at clinically appropriate intervals; adjust treatment plans based on outcomes and evolving patient goals.
Prescribe pharmaceutical treatments when indicated; maintain current DEA registration; manage nutraceutical-pharmaceutical interactions.
Provide clinical co-management and oversight within AIM's signature programs and memberships: Including Maya's Way (oncology support), Executive Wellness, and Get Well as well as any developed in the future.
Adhere strictly to all HIPAA, OSHA, and Ohio Medical Board requirements; maintain complete and timely Cerbo EMR documentation for all patient encounters.
Follow Medicare and applicable payer documentation guidelines; ensure clinical notes support medical necessity and coding accuracy.
Primary: Patient Experience & Communication
Ensure every patient feels better after every interaction - in person, by phone, through the patient portal, or via telehealth. This is an operational standard.

Participate in and support the IMPOE fellowship program; serve as a teaching physician and clinical mentor for fellowship candidates rotating through AIM.
Teach and mentor medical students and residents as opportunities arise through AIM's academic and community partnerships.
Maintain professional competency through CME, functional medicine continuing education (IFM, A4M, ACAM, or equivalent), and regular literature review.
Pursue or maintain IFMCP certification; AIM actively supports this credential for all physicians.
Participate in AIM's community wellness programs, corporate wellness initiatives, and TCHHN community engagement activities as appropriate.
Secondary: Lifestyle Store Clinical Support
Provide clinical review and approval authority for supplement and nutraceutical product additions to the AIM Lifestyle Store; ensure all products meet pharmaceutical-grade quality standards.
Participate in quarterly product review meetings with the Retail & E-Commerce Manager.
