Job Description
Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis. Interface with the following groups: software development, testing, integration, deployment, and sustainment.
Possess the following capabilities:
(U) Support the database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities
(U) Support the development of long and short term requirements for database administration and design
(U) Support the analysis and evaluation of system improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts
(U) Translate a set of requirements and data into a usable database schema by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts and macros, updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file
(U) Assist in developing databases, database parser software, and database loading software
(U) Assist in developing database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development
(U) Lead development of databases, database parser software, and database loading software
(U) Lead development of database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system under development
(U) Develop requirement recommendations from a project's inception to its conclusion for a particular Business and IT subject matter area (i.e. simple to complex systems)
(U) Develop a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls
Qualifications
A Bachelors Degree in an appropriate field. Personnel in this labor category may substitute at least three years of relevant professional experience for a Bachelors degree and at least six years for a Masters degree.
Five (5) years experience in database tuning and performance monitoring and experience supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases, for example, Oracle, MS SQL, or Sybase in the following environments: Solaris, Linux, or Windows.
Up to 5% travel possible.
TS/SCI w/FS poly required
