Department: Internal Controls, FDS & Transformation

Summary of Role:

The Manager FDS Data & Reporting will be responsible to partner with financial stakeholders to evaluate and define reporting requirements, to design and develop reporting solutions that leverage financial reporting platforms, and to support validation of foundational data products that can be used for finance and enterprise-wide reporting initiatives.

The Financial Data Systems (FDS) team ensures global financial data reliability, control and integrity surrounding technical, process and reporting solutions. This group is responsible for development, deployment, and maintenance of all Hershey financial processes. Decisions and actions of this department affect the efficiency and effectiveness of transaction processing, financial analysis and reporting used across Hershey.

With Hershey's global expansion and significant investment in financial system solutions, such as SAP S4 and Blackline, and financial reporting platforms (UDP, Datasphere, etc.), this group plays a key leadership role in defining sustainable and controlled process solutions and reporting capabilities. This position demands knowledge of Hershey's global operations, systems and accounting requirements. A successful candidate will be able to combine new technology, data governance principles and an understanding of business reporting requirements to deliver optimized reporting solutions.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate Business Needs & Solution Development - The role partners closely with Finance leadership, Controllership, FP&A, cross-functional business leaders and technology teams to ensure reporting solutions align with business priorities and enterprise data governance expectations. The role will partner with stakeholders to evaluate process and reporting needs, leveraging Hershey's growing technology solutions to develop reporting solutions that meet the business needs. Adiditionally, the role will partner with the business through the implementation of new or modified business processes, acquisitions, supply chain expansion, etc., within Hershey's key strategic markets.  Evaluate reporting needs and develop reporting solutions, which may be developed within the FDS team or delivered through partnership with IS enablement teams (S/4 enablement, Data & Reporting, UDP, etc.)
  • Report/Model Design Development - Lead the development, execution, and governance and transformation of financial reporting within the finance and controllership teams. This role owns the creation, enhancement, and delivery of new reporting to meet the needs of controllership and Finance, reflecting the development of enhanced capabilities that leverage modern tools (BDC, SAC, Alteryx, PowerBI, CoPilot and other AI solutions). This role will evaluate and define the reporting requirements and will leverage FDS to build and enable new reporting capabilities, ensuring data integrity and validation and leading data governance practices.
  • Data Governance & Report Validation - Support the development, execution, and governance of enterprise financial reporting. This role supports the governance and validation of enterprise reporting initiatives, ensuring data integrity through robust validation and reconciliation of data products and models, and drives continuous improvement in reporting processes and data quality standards.
  • Support Transformational Initiatives and Projects - Cross Support FDS team on projects and initiatives and back up FDS financial or technical functions. Partner with counterparts on the FDS team to deliver internal reporting metrics & requirements. Champion and promote continuous improvement in financial processes and use of SAP S/4, SAP S/4, BlackLine and other key financial process/systems solutions. Support team initiatives for process integration, simplification or transformation, with a focus on meeting the reporting requirements that arise from the initiatives. 

 

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of SAP S4 modules, and related interdependencies
  • Reporting Tools - Power BI, Datasphere and/or Alteryx
  • AI Tools - Co-Pilot and willingness to learn additional AI tools/capabilities
  • Storytelling - ability to translate business reporting needs into technical report design
  • Knowledge of GAAP and deep understanding of internal controls, particularly with regard to data accuracy & completeness and report design principles
  • Basic knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting processes
  • Overall understanding of Information Technology concepts
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Analytical thinker
  • Basic level of understanding of Hershey business processes, and process improvement activities
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) in English is critical. Additional languages is a plus.
  • Must be willing and capable to work at odd hours to support the region and projects.
  • Capable of documenting and improving processes is important.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Education -
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, or related degree; Business systems emphasis is preferred.
    • CPA or MBA preferred. 
    • Major public accounting experience a plus.
  • Experience -
    • At least 5-10 years of experience in financial accounting, reporting, and business systems;
    • Experience must demonstrate the ability to function well in both the technical environments of financial systems, and Accounting and Reporting; and
    • Exhibit proven process improvement skills.
