Job description

The Basics: Summary

Our Product Management team is actively seeking a new Director of Product Management focused on Data Platform, Cloud, and SaaS Architecture to join our passionate, driven, and fast-paced team. In this role, you will own and shape Tanium’s end-to-end data strategy across cloud and SaaS environments, partnering closely with engineering, product, design, and cross-functional leadership to define how Tanium stores, accesses, queries, moves, and visualizes data across the platform.

You will bring deep experience in cloud and SaaS architectures, data platforms, and enterprise-scale systems, with the ability to translate complex customer, product, and technical requirements into actionable strategy and execution. You will need to be successful influencing cross-functionally across all levels of the organization, operating horizontally across multiple teams and pods, and drive clarity in ambiguous, complex technical domains. You must also be comfortable setting strategic direction while staying close enough to the work to make high-quality product and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for Tanium’s cloud/SaaS data platform, from ideation through launch, in close partnership with engineering teams.
  • Define and drive the short- and long-term roadmap for Tanium’s end-to-end data architecture, including storage, access, query, visualization, and data movement capabilities.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineering, Design, and leadership across the organization to align priorities across multiple pods and ensure teams are building toward a cohesive data strategy.
  • Lead product direction for how data is surfaced and experienced in Atlas and the UI, with a focus on improving trust, usability, reliability, and customer value.
  • Drive the strategy for data movement and integration capabilities, including export, import, and scalable data exchange patterns across products and use cases.
  • Establish clear product requirements, technical specifications, use cases, business logic, and success metrics for data platform capabilities.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to make durable architectural decisions across complex, distributed cloud and SaaS systems.
  • Champion data quality as a core product priority, setting expectations and mechanisms to improve consistency, reliability, and trust throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with internal teams on enablement, training, and launch materials to ensure successful adoption of new data capabilities and platform improvements.
  • Work closely with business, technical, customer-facing, and go-to-market teams to understand customer needs, solve daily challenges, and identify opportunities for product differentiation.
  • Leverage innovation and trends in cloud, SaaS, data architecture, analytics, and enterprise platform technologies to develop strategic solutions.
Requirements Education
  • BA/BS required
  • MA/MS or equivalent advanced technical/business degree preferred
Experience
  • Significant product management experience within an enterprise B2B environment, ideally supporting a SaaS, cloud platform, data platform, infrastructure, or security technology product.
  • Proven experience leading product strategy for complex technical platforms, including the ability to define opportunities, translate customer needs into requirements, and deliver products at enterprise scale.
  • Deep experience with cloud and SaaS architectures, with strong working knowledge of hyperscaler environments such as Azure and/or AWS.
  • Strong data platform experience, including one or more of the following:
  • Data storage and data access architectures
  • Query layers and large-scale database systems
  • Data visualization and analytics experiences
  • Data movement, export/import, integration, or interoperability capabilities
  • Data quality, reliability, governance, and lifecycle considerations
  • Experience working across distributed systems and multiple product surfaces, rather than a single narrowly defined application or monolith.
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise data systems; experience with graph databases is a plus.
  • Strong track record of working with engineering and business stakeholders to drive product definition, strategic alignment, prioritization, and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity, quickly ramp into new technical domains, and bring structure to broad, evolving problem spaces.
  • Proven ability to influence horizontally across cross-functional teams, product pods, and senior stakeholders.
  • People leadership experience, including building and leading teams; experience managing managers is a plus.
  • Technology background preferred, ideally with experience in security, systems management, IT operations, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, or enterprise platform products.
Nice to have
  • Experience with graph databases or graph-based data models.
  • Experience with large-scale database systems, analytics platforms, or enterprise data visualization products.
  • Broader hyperscaler depth across Azure, AWS, and/or other cloud providers.
  • Experience building durable export/import patterns and integrations across complex enterprise products.
  • Experience leading product teams through organizational growth, hiring, or team structure evolution.
