Job description

PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Oversees the traffic control/warehouse staff: Includes hiring, disciplining, monitoring job performance, ensuring competency levels, recommending appropriate training, conducting performance appraisals as required and recommending compensation adjustments.
Reviews and maintains daily pre-trip reports and coordinates vehicle/equipment and Company-owned tools for repairs and maintenance with Fleet Manager; assumes responsibility for vehicle keys.
Monitors and maintains sales and rental inventory including traffic control devices and shop tools; coordinates physical count of inventory with warehouse personnel; reports high/low levels of equipment to determine whether equipment should be replaced, repaired or refurbished.
Makes recommendations to the Neighbor Island Branch Manager regarding major equipment purchases and sales stock inventory; generates material requests from the appropriate branch and/or the Sign Shop.
Issues Company shirts, communication devices and appropriate personal protective equipment to crew members.
Investigates damages to equipment and customer incidents in a timely manner, submits appropriate accident reports in conformance with Company policies and consults with the Branch Manager on appropriate disciplinary action.
Oversees, approves and ensures that internal paperwork related to the traffic control/warehouse staff flows in a timely manner, and in accordance with established department procedures.
Responsible for the maintenance, security and upkeep of the Maui Branch facility.
Performs Internet search for upcoming Federal, State, City & County, and private bid opportunities. Performs take offs, determines scope of work, and prepares pricing and quotes for traffic control, temporary fencing and other rental opportunities accordingly. Follows up on bid/quote status and documents results.

Maintains and builds positive customer relationships. Seeks out opportunities to provide traffic control, temporary fencing and other rental solutions to existing and new customers.
Coordinates with Sales and production staff, Neighbor Island Branch Manager, Customers and government agencies to prepare orders, draw traffic control plans, schedule shop work, schedule sufficient manpower and acquire the proper equipment to meet customer / work order requirements.
Assists the AR Specialist with documentation and data gathering for collections and/or assists with collections on select jobs.
Works with the Safety Officer to do facility and site inspections.
Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
Exhibits a core understanding of mutual respect and good customer service orientation in interactions with all people in the workplace.

PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS
Equipment Use:
Familiarity with Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) preferred.
Mental and Physical Demands:
Good organizational/administrative skills to multi-task effectively.
Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Communication Demands:
Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective internal and external communications as well as initiate/promote sales of products and services.


Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills/Knowledge:
Math: Good mathematical skills to complete daily tasks.
Reading: Ability to read and comprehend business and technical information
and read road maps.
Computer: Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Email. Adaptable to in-
house software. Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete tasks in
a timely manner.
Calculator: 10 key by touch helpful.
Licenses: Valid Hawaii driver's license and favorable traffic abstract.
Education: Community college preferred.
Experience: 2 years experience in a similar operation or 3 years relevant
