Job description

Job Summary:

A Data Governance Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust data governance framework that ensures the accuracy and integrity of the organization's data assets. This role leads the development and implementation of data policies, standards, and procedures, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and alignment with business objectives. This position involves overseeing data quality initiatives, managing data-related risks, and fostering a culture of data stewardship across the organization. By leveraging expertise in data management and governance, the Data Governance Manager plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making and driving the strategic use of data to achieve organizational goals. 

Job Duties:

  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security
  • Oversees data quality initiatives, including data profiling, cleansing, and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data
  • Ensures compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards, and manages data-related risks by implementing appropriate controls and monitoring mechanisms
  • Promotes a culture of data stewardship across the organization by educating and training staff on data governance practices and their roles in maintaining data quality
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, legal, compliance, and business units, to align data governance initiatives with organizational goals and objectives
  • Evaluates and implements data governance tools and technologies to support data management activities and improve data governance processes
  • Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives, using metrics and KPIs to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Communicates data governance policies, standards, and best practices to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, ensuring clear understanding and adherence
  • Continuously assesses and improves data governance practices, staying up-to-date with industry trends and emerging best practices to enhance the organization's data governance capabilities

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology, preferred
  • Advanced degrees (Masters or MBA), preferred

Experience:

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in data management, data governance, master data management, or data quality, required
  • Experience implementing, developing, or supporting data teams, analytics teams, or business intelligence platforms, required
  • Experience in data modeling of large and complex data stores, preferred
  • Professional services firm experience, preferred

License/Certifications:

  • Relevant such as DCAM CIMP,CDMP, preferred

Software:

  • Proficiency with data governance tools and technologies (e.g., Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation), required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure & Power BI r, Preferred

Language:

  • N/A

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to follow an issue through to its logical conclusion, and escalating where necessary
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $140,000 - $165,000
Maryland Range: $140,000 - $165,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $140,000 - $165,000
