Is data governance a good career path?

Data governance is a viable career path for those interested in managing data quality, compliance, and security within organizations. It often requires skills in data management tools, understanding of regulations like GDPR or HIPAA, and certifications such as CDGP or DAMA-DMBOK. The field offers opportunities across industries with increasing demand for data-driven decision-making.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Data Governance position, and why are they important?

Familiarity with data governance platforms (such as Collibra or Informatica), data mapping tools, and relevant certifications (like CDMP or DGSP) is highly beneficial. Attention to detail, stakeholder management, and effective communication are standout soft skills for this role. This role is highly collaborative and often serves as the bridge between business and technical stakeholders, ensuring data assets are used responsibly and effectively.

Will data governance jobs be replaced by AI?

Data governance jobs involve managing data quality, compliance, and policies, which require human judgment, oversight, and understanding of organizational context.
