The consultant will operate as the primary execution lead between business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, and technology teams—owning scope, timelines, dependencies, and outcomes for data governance initiatives. This role is ideal for a candidate with capital markets experience who has led complex data or regulatory programs and is comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Delivery Management

  • Own delivery of data governance initiatives, including scope definition, roadmap planning, milestones, dependencies, and execution tracking
  • Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, timelines, and status reporting for senior stakeholders
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams spanning business, data governance, technology, and vendors
  • Drive execution against enterprise data governance priorities, ensuring alignment to business outcomes

Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with front, middle, and back-office stakeholders to elicit, document, and prioritize business and data requirements
  • Lead requirements definition for Critical Data Elements (CDEs), data ownership models, and governance workflows
  • Translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for technology teams
  • Act as the primary liaison between business users and IT for data governance dashboards, reporting, and master data initiatives

Data Governance Enablement

  • Support design and rollout of data governance frameworks, including stewardship models, issue management processes, and operating procedures
  • Oversee documentation of data dictionaries, lineage, and data flow artifacts using Collibra, Alation, or similar platforms
  • Manage intake, prioritization, and remediation tracking of data quality issues and governance gaps
  • Conduct impact assessments for data-related changes and identify cross-platform dependencies

Change Management & Adoption

  • Facilitate working sessions, governance forums, and stakeholder reviews to drive alignment and decision-making
  • Coordinate training, communications, and documentation to support adoption of governance standards and tools
  • Track governance KPIs and maturity metrics to support continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Project/Program Manager role within financial services
  • Strong experience delivering data-centric initiatives (data governance, data quality, MDM, regulatory data, or reporting platforms)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional delivery in complex, matrixed organizations
  • Solid understanding of data lifecycle concepts including metadata, lineage, stewardship, and controls
  • Experience working with data governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Solidatus, or similar
  • Proficiency in requirements documentation, workflow design, and stakeholder communication

  • Excellent executive-level communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Capital markets, hedge fund, or asset management domain experience (required for senior consideration)
  • Experience supporting regulatory or risk-driven data initiatives (e.g., BCBS 239, SEC reporting, GDPR)
