What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Systems Analyst to join our team in addressing critical national security challenges. In this role, the selected candidate will conduct objective studies and perform technical analyses to inform decision-makers on strategic and program-specific issues. You will develop system-level design architectures by integrating components into comprehensive, functional systems using a multidisciplinary approach.
Your expertise will contribute to solving complex problems related to nuclear weapons command and control, countering weapons of mass destruction, signature identification, strategic materials management, energy systems, arms control, nonproliferation, and nuclear security. Additionally, you will perform risk assessments of current and emerging threats to national security, applying your skills to enhance the safety and security of the United States.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Create and sustain dashboards by integrating data from multiple sources and provide timely, accurate, and actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Perform data mining and investigative analysis to respond to requests for information
  • Intake, prioritize, and process requests by gathering, evaluating, and interpreting data to uncover patterns, trends, and facts relevant to specific cases.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of business operations and data infrastructure to manage multiple complex requests simultaneously.
  • Improve data quality, reporting efficiency, and turnaround time through automation and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet customer needs and support organizational goals.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely communication of findings, dashboards, and reports to customers and leadership.

This position will require travel to remote sites.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
$87,400 - $168,800
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field; Or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. A higher-level degree (MS, PhD) in relevant discipline may also be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, dashboard development, or business intelligence.
  • Experience with standard data management and analysis practices, including one or more of the following:
    • Data collection and validation
    • Data modeling
    • Reporting automation
    • Data mining and analysis
    • Request intake and prioritization
    • Trend analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Experience building and maintaining both static and dynamic dashboards.
  • Proficiency with data warehouse tools and multi-source data integration.
  • Strong knowledge of business operations, reporting processes, and underlying data infrastructure.

About Our Team
Department 4120, Project Execution, provides data analysis, reporting, and operational support for mission needs at Sandia National Laboratories. The department develops and maintains dashboards, performs data mining and investigative analysis, and supports decision-making through timely and accurate reporting. Work includes building data solutions, improving reporting efficiency, and responding to a broad range of customer and leadership requests that support organizational effectiveness.
