JOB TITLE: Pharmacy/Retail Supervisor
 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy/Retail Supervisor is responsible for directing, managing, and supervising the daily operations of the pharmacy department to ensure high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient service delivery. This role oversees pharmacy technicians and staff, manages inventory and purchasing functions, and promotes continuous process improvement while supporting organizational goals and quality initiatives. Preference will be given to local candidates with the potential to transition into a full-time position.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Direct, manage, and supervise daily pharmacy operations to ensure quality service delivery and compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
โ€ข Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff, providing leadership, guidance, and performance management.
โ€ข Develop operational and financial performance metrics and implement tracking systems to monitor departmental outcomes and quality initiatives.
โ€ข Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and service standards.
โ€ข Assess departmental effectiveness and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
โ€ข Recruit, mentor, train, and develop staff through timely feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations.
โ€ข Oversee pharmacy information systems and dispensing technologies to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity.
โ€ข Manage purchasing and inventory control functions to ensure cost-effective inventory management and timely availability of medications and related products.
โ€ข Facilitate staff education and professional development by assessing learning needs and coordinating training opportunities.
โ€ข Prepare monthly operational reports, identify areas of concern, and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
โ€ข Participate in departmental orientation, on-the-job training, quality assurance activities, and organizational initiatives.
โ€ข Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy practices, regulations, and emerging trends through continuing education and professional development activities.
โ€ข Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Bachelor of Science (BS) in Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
โ€ข PharmD preferred.
โ€ข Completion of a Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) Pharmacy Residency preferred.
โ€ข Minimum three (3) years of pharmacist experience required.
โ€ข Minimum two (2) years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
โ€ข Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or management experience required.
โ€ข Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and support personnel.
โ€ข No disciplinary actions or restrictions on professional licensure.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
โ€ข Current and active, unrestricted Pharmacist license required.
โ€ข Arizona Pharmacist license preferred.
โ€ข Basic Life Support (BLS) 
โ€ข Licensed to administer immunizations, vaccines, and emergency medications preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
โ€ข Strong leadership, team management, and staff development skills.
โ€ข Knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory requirements.
โ€ข Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and computerized dispensing systems.
โ€ข Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
โ€ข Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
โ€ข Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
โ€ข Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and operational excellence.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
