Inside the Role
The Material and Process Technology (MPT) department at DTNA is looking for Materials Engineering Technician to join our team. The MPT Materials Engineering Technician is responsible for providing laboratory support to our Materials Engineering team from ideation through end of life to ensure Daimler Truck and industry requirements are fulfilled.

Position offers a starting salary range of $65,000 - $83,000 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
Benefits include annual bonus program; 401k company contribution with company match up to 6% as well as non-elective company contribution of 3 - 7% depending on age; starting at 4 weeks paid vacation; 13+ calendar holidays; 8 weeks paid parental leave; employee assistance program; comprehensive healthcare plans and wellness programs; onsite fitness (at some locations); tuition assistance and volunteer paid time off; short-term and long-term disability plans.
What You Drive at DTNA
  • Provide support for DTNA Materials Engineers conducting materials characterization and/or failure analysis investigations via testing, sectioning, and sample preparation of heavy-duty powertrain components
  • Support laboratory equipment preventative maintenance programs
  • Support laboratory processes such as inventory management, consumable purchases, quality initiatives, etc.

Knowledge You Should Bring
  • 3 years of relevant experience or AA degree + 1 year of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty powertrain components
  • Familiarity with and be comfortable with heavy-duty sectioning equipment such as industrial band saws, enclosed chop saws, and other industrial equipment and environments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow complex work plans
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • College level classes in Material Science and/or Metallurgy
  • Familiarity with materials sample preparation techniques including sample preparation and metallography
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems Familiarity with lean management principles
