About the Position
We're seeking a Technical Project Lead to join our Delivery team and lead complex on-site data collection programs for Physical AI and robotics projects.
You will work with frontier AI research labs and leading technology and consumer electronics companies, helping translate product and research roadmaps into scalable real-world data collection programs. Projects may involve prototype hardware, wearable devices, cameras, sensors and other emerging technologies.
This role sits at the intersection of technical solution design, data operations, project delivery and client management. You will work closely with client AI research and product teams to turn technical goals into granular data requirements, collection workflows, tooling and scalable operating processes.
The role goes beyond traditional project management. You will design metadata schemas, build scripts and lightweight tools, create dashboards, define quality-control mechanisms, and train on-site teams to execute client protocols consistently.
You will also help scale continuous data collection operations across multiple domestic and international locations.
Example Projects
Projects may include:
- Launching and scaling on-site data collection programs for robotics, Physical AI and wearable technologies;
- Working with prototype devices and specialized hardware to design practical data collection workflows;
- Translating AI research and product objectives into data requirements, collection protocols and production targets;
- Designing metadata schemas, processing workflows and quality-control mechanisms;
- Building scripts, lightweight tools and dashboards to automate operations and improve data quality;
- Training film crews, technicians and other on-site teams to execute client-defined protocols;
- Using LLMs and automation to improve QA and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical scoping of new project opportunities, understanding client goals, technical requirements and operational constraints;
- Translate client requirements into practical solution architectures and scalable data collection workflows;
- Review RFPs and technical documentation and turn them into client-facing proposals, project plans and realistic production assumptions;
- Estimate production capacity and achievable data volumes, informing scope, timelines and costs;
- Lead projects end-to-end, ensuring quality, delivery commitments, scope and risks are effectively managed;
- Design collection protocols, processing steps, metadata schemas, acceptance criteria and quality-control mechanisms;
- Build scripts and lightweight applications to automate data processing, extraction, validation and on-site operations;
- Create dashboards and centralized data views to track production, bottlenecks and staffing needs;
- Define hardware, prototype device and on-site tooling requirements;
- Work with client AI research teams, including participating in on-site training, and translate their protocols into scalable operating procedures;
- Develop training materials and lead training for technical and non-technical on-site teams;
- Lead LLM-based QA and automation initiatives;
- Manage client expectations around scope, volumes, feasibility, timelines and delivery;
- Manage project budgets, cost estimates and unit economics;
- Coordinate engineering, operations, supply, recruitment, vendors and external workers across multiple workstreams;
- Help scale continuous on-site data collection operations across domestic and international locations;
- Identify risks and bottlenecks early and continuously improve workflows through rapid iteration.
Qualifications
- Experience leading complex technical or data-driven projects from scoping through delivery;
- Ability to translate ambiguous client requirements into practical technical solutions and executable workflows;
- Experience with data collection, data operations, robotics, computer vision, Physical AI or other technically complex environments;
- Hands-on experience using scripts for data processing, extraction, validation or workflow automation;
- Strong understanding of data structures, metadata, processing workflows and quality control;
- Experience working across software, hardware, operational processes and people;
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar hardware, prototype devices and technical tooling;
- Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills;
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with production capacity, project budgets, unit economics and operational metrics;
- Experience coordinating multiple cross-functional teams and workstreams;
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving and ambiguous environments, with a pragmatic and entrepreneurial mindset;
- Good understanding of LLMs and modern AI systems, particularly their use in QA and workflow optimization;
- Willingness to work on-site and travel domestically and internationally when required.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with on-site or field data collection programs;
- Experience with robotics, Physical AI, computer vision, wearables, sensor data or multimodal datasets;
- Experience with prototype hardware, cameras, sensors or other data-collection equipment;
- Experience with Python or similar scripting languages;
- Experience building lightweight internal tools, dashboards or automated QA pipelines;
- Experience training or managing large on-site technical or production teams;
- Experience managing vendors, contractors or distributed external workforces;
- Background in AI/ML, robotics, consumer electronics, technology, consulting, operations or the AI data industry;
- Technical or engineering degree is a plus.
What We Can Offer
- Contract (B2B) collaboration, with a path into a project team if things go well;
- Flexible, fully remote schedule (40 hours per week);
- Work at the leading edge of AI development, alongside a dedicated and dynamic team of experts;
- Projects with customers that are AI industry leaders and well-known household names;
- Friendly community.
