Job description

Job Req ID: 29340
About Supermicro:
Supermicro® is a Top Tier provider of advanced server, storage, and networking solutions for Data Center, Cloud Computing, Enterprise IT, Hadoop/ Big Data, Hyperscale, HPC and IoT/Embedded customers worldwide. We are the #5 fastest growing company among the Silicon Valley Top 50 technology firms. Our unprecedented global expansion has provided us with the opportunity to offer a large number of new positions to the technology community. We seek talented, passionate, and committed engineers, technologists, and business leaders to join us.
Job Summary:
Supermicro is seeking a driven Solution Architect to join our Solution Architecture team as the outbound, customer- and partner-facing engine of our US ecosystem motion. Based at our San Jose headquarters and focused on the dense Bay Area technology landscape, you will proactively open new relationships - with end customers and with partners (Neoclouds, AI ISVs and startups, silicon and platform vendors, and SI/channel partners) - and turn first conversations into qualified, joint technical engagements.
This is a balanced role: roughly half outbound development and half hands-on technical delivery. You will prospect, run first-meeting technical discovery, and build a pipeline; and you will carry meaningful architecture work on the accounts and partners you land, teaming with our senior Solution Architects for deep design-win and deployment hand-off. It is the ideal seat for an energetic, early-to-mid-career architect who wants to build a customer and partner network from the ground up and grow toward Staff / Principal Solution Architect scope.
This is a high-energy, high-visibility role requiring strong outbound drive, solid AI-infrastructure fluency, excellent communication, and the ability to operate across both development and technical engagement in a fast-paced environment. This role is based at our headquarters in San Jose, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Hunt and open new customer and partner relationships across the Bay Area / HQ ecosystem - end customers, Neoclouds, AI ISVs and startups, silicon/platform vendors, SIs, and channel - through proactive outbound outreach.
  • Run first-meeting technical discovery with prospective customers and partners; qualify fit and scope joint opportunities.
  • Build and own a pipeline - account/partner mapping, outreach cadence, and pursuit tracking from first touch to qualified engagement.
  • Initiate joint POCs and reference architectures on AI/GPU/CPU and software-defined storage solutions; team with senior Solution Architects for deep design and delivery hand-off.
  • Carry meaningful technical delivery on the accounts and partners you land - rack- and pod-scale AI infrastructure (CPU/GPU/DPU, fabric, VAST/SDS integration) at a working-architect level.
  • Represent Supermicro at Bay Area events, meetups, partner summits, and customer/partner briefings as an energetic technical voice.
  • Co-develop first-touch enablement assets - briefing decks, solution overviews, and reference outlines - with Product Management, Sales, and senior Solution Architects.
  • Maintain customer and partner relationships and roadmap awareness, feeding intake and opportunities back to the Solution Architecture team.

Qualifications:
Required
  • 8+ years in solution architecture, sales/partner engineering, technical business development, or related customer- and partner-facing technical roles - US market preferred.
  • Outbound, self-starting, and driven - energized by prospecting, opening doors, and building a customer and partner network from the ground up.
  • Strong technical fluency in AI infrastructure and data center solutions (compute, GPU, storage / SDS) - credible in a first technical conversation, with room to grow toward senior-SA depth.
  • Excellent English business communication and strong presence - comfortable from a cold first meeting through a technical working session.
  • Working knowledge of GPU-accelerated architectures (NVIDIA HGX/MGX, RDMA, high-speed network technology) and software-defined storage (e.g., VAST DASE archiecture).
  • Ability to translate AI training/inference and Enterprise AI workloads into solution-level conversations.
  • BS in EE/CE/ME, CS, or a related field. US-based; HQ / Bay Area based with domestic and international travel of 20 - 35%.

Preferred/Bonus
  • Existing or emerging Bay Area technology network across customers and partners (Neoclouds, AI startups, silicon and platform vendors, SIs).
  • Hands-on experience with GPU-accelerated clusters or software-defined storage integration - a strong plus; willingness to ramp required where depth is still growing.
  • Exposure to joint POCs, customer reference deployments, or reference-architecture development with strategic technology partners.
  • Comfort operating at the technical/business interface - qualification, opportunity scoping, and first-touch commercial framing.
  • Willingness to travel and collaborate across global time zones.

Salary Range
$165,000 - $189,000
The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
