Job description

Customer Operations Manager — South Pit Hot Mix Plant

Run the highest-revenue plant in one of West Texas' most established materials operations.

CSA Materials is hiring its first dedicated Customer Operations Manager for South Pit, the company's highest-volume hot mix asphalt plant in Midland, Texas.

This role exists to fully own the daily customer scheduling, load sequencing, and production coordination currently distributed across multiple team members. Today, those responsibilities are being handled in real time by leadership while also managing broader operational priorities. This position centralizes that function into a single point of ownership.

This is a high-pressure coordination role — not a maintenance, technical, or plant mechanic position. The primary responsibility is keeping customers, trucking, and plant production aligned throughout a constantly changing operational day.

South Pit supports TxDOT, municipalities, commercial paving contractors, and large infrastructure customers across the Permian Basin, producing approximately $3M–$5M in monthly output.

If you can manage complex schedules, communicate clearly under pressure, and keep multiple moving parts aligned in real time, CSA will train you on the asphalt and materials side of the business.

Why This Role Stands Out

Own the Daily Customer Flow of CSA's Largest Plant

South Pit is CSA's highest-revenue operation. This role directly owns the scheduling and coordination engine that keeps it moving every day.

Build Structure in a High-Volume Environment

This is a newly created position. You will help define and refine how customer scheduling, load sequencing, and production coordination are managed going forward.

Learn the Industry

Asphalt experience is helpful but not required. CSA is open to strong operators from logistics, transportation, dispatch, manufacturing, construction materials, or other fast-paced industrial environments.

Long-Term Stability

CSA Materials has operated across Texas since 1987 as part of the Reece Albert family of companies — a long-standing, privately held heavy civil and materials organization with deep regional roots.

What You'll Own

Customer Scheduling & Load Coordination

  • Own the daily and weekly hot mix scheduling board
  • Sequence customer loads across silos and loading lanes
  • Adjust priorities in real time based on demand, delays, and production changes
  • Maintain continuous flow between customers, trucks, and plant output

Customer Communication

  • Serve as the primary operational contact for customers during the production day
  • Communicate schedule changes, delays, and load updates in real time
  • Maintain strong relationships with repeat contractors and high-volume buyers
  • Deliver clear, calm communication under pressure

Production & Operational Flow Control

  • Coordinate between plant operations and quality control teams
  • Anticipate and resolve scheduling bottlenecks before they disrupt production
  • Keep daily operations aligned across multiple moving parts
  • Ensure smooth handoffs between inbound materials, production, and outbound trucking

Systems & Reporting

  • Track inbound materials and production activity
  • Build and maintain operational reporting in Excel and internal systems
  • Learn and use Apex, FleetWatcher, and JWS to manage scheduling and flow data
  • Provide visibility into daily production performance and constraints

What Success Looks Like

Within Your First 90 Days

  • Learn CSA's customer base and production flow
  • Become comfortable with scheduling systems and reporting tools
  • Begin handling customer communication independently

Within Your First 6 Months

  • Own the majority of day-to-day scheduling and logistics coordination
  • Become a trusted operational point person for customers and internal teams
  • Reduce dependency on leadership for daily plant coordination

Within Your First Year

  • Fully run South Pit's day-to-day operational rhythm
  • Improve customer responsiveness, production flow, and delivery execution
  • Create stronger operational visibility around materials, costs, and throughput
  • Position yourself for future operational leadership opportunities within CSA

What CSA Is Looking For

Required Background

  • 5+ years in logistics, operations, scheduling, dispatch, manufacturing, plant operations, transportation, or a related industrial environment
  • Experience operating under high customer demand and changing priorities
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort with Excel and operational systems
  • Ability to lead through influence rather than formal authority
  • Ability to work onsite in Midland, TX or relocate within commuting distance
  • Valid driver's license and comfort working around active industrial operations

Helpful Experience

  • Asphalt, aggregate, ready-mix, paving, or construction materials exposure
  • Dispatch or fleet operations leadership
  • High-volume scheduling environments
  • Production reporting or operational KPI tracking
  • Public works or TxDOT-related operational environments

Who Thrives Here

  • Operators who enjoy solving problems in real time
  • Coordinators who can manage multiple moving priorities without losing control
  • Strong communicators who stay calm when plans change quickly
  • Customer-focused professionals who can maintain relationships under pressure
  • Hands-on operators who prefer active, fast-paced environments over desk-bound roles

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the middle of the action and wants long-term growth inside a stable, family-owned organization.

Apply

If you are an operations-minded professional who can organize complexity, manage real-time scheduling, and keep high-volume customers and production aligned under pressure, CSA Materials wants to hear from you.
