Job description

Reports To: Executive Director of Analytics, Insights, Customer Operations

About This Role:

As the Director of Customer Data Management, you will play a key role in defining and executing the customer data strategy that supports all current and future therapeutic areas. You will oversee data leadership, the commercial data warehouse, master data management (MDM), and specialty pharmacy data processes.

In this role, you will build the tools, systems, and infrastructure needed for data aggregation, stewardship, and governance across all customer datasets. Your work will enable insights and reporting across both commercial and medical data domains. You will also identify business needs, define project scopes, develop data architectures, and manage vendor partnerships that support the organization's data ecosystem.


What You'll Do: 

  • Commercial Data Management
    • Lead the strategic vision for Customer Data Management, driving innovation and industry best practices across all therapeutic areas.
    • Oversee the Master Data Management (MDM) operational process to ensure high-quality, stakeholder-aligned data delivery.
    • Support integrations across CRM systems, MDM solutions, the Commercial Data Warehouse, Customer Data Platforms, and other customer and sales data sources.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security standards, and internal governance policies.
    • Identify, evaluate, and acquire third-party data sources (e.g., IQVIA, Komodo Health, specialty pharmacy data) to support business decision-making.
    • Manage budgets, contractors, and vendor relationships for data acquisition and data management services.
    • Partner closely with IT to deliver and maintain technology initiatives.
    • Ensure data quality through strong business rules, quality controls, and monitoring practices.
    • Define KPIs to measure the effectiveness and business value of data management initiatives.
    • Develop SOPs and systems to support compliant data reporting, storage, and handling.
    • Colead commercial data governance efforts in partnership with IT.
    • Maintain data catalogs and libraries for all relevant data sources.
    • Train internal teams on CRM and data management processes and best practices.

Who You Are: 

You are a collaborative, forwardthinking data management expert who combines strong technical understanding with excellent stakeholder leadership to deliver highquality, compliant customer data. You excel at optimizing data processes, managing vendors, and enabling teams with the tools, insights, and best practices needed for commercial success.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years in Data Strategy, Data Analytics, or Data Management, with proven strategic and operational leadership.
  • 7+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector with deep knowledge of external data sources (sales, claims, HCP, medical, customer datasets).
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related scientific field preferred.
  • Extensive experience with the latest data technologies, including data warehouses, data lakes, cloud platforms, and analytics tools.
  • Strong experience working with specialty pharmacy data (dispense, status, etc.), syndicated datasets (claims, Rx), and MDM data structures.
  • Expertise in pharmaceutical MDM practices, including system integration, data stewardship, data quality, and field force enablement.
  • Familiarity with databases and data warehouses (Oracle, Snowflake), CRM platforms (Veeva), and analytics/reporting tools (SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent business acumen, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, non-technical language.
  • Experience across the product lifecycle (emerging, launch, inline).
  • Strong presentation skills and experience engaging external stakeholders.

Additional Information: 

The base compensation range for this role is: $210,000.00-$240,000.00. Compensation is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
