Job description

Job Description: Overnight Sanitation Team Member

Position Summary

The Sanitation Team Member is responsible for ensuring that all production and support areas in the facility are cleaned, sanitized, and maintained according to company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards. This role is critical to maintaining a safe, hygienic, and compliant environment for food production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning & Sanitization
    • Perform routine and deep cleaning of production equipment, floors, walls, drains, and work areas.
    • Follow established sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs) and master sanitation schedules.
    • Apply appropriate cleaning chemicals safely and effectively, ensuring correct concentrations and contact times.
    • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble equipment as required.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Adhere to FDA, USDA, OSHA, and company food safety and workplace safety regulations.
    • Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Report and document sanitation activities, chemical usage, and any food safety concerns.
    • Support audits and inspections by providing accurate cleaning records and demonstrating compliance.
  • Teamwork & Communication
    • Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to ensure proper sanitation before and after shifts.
    • Communicate hazards, equipment issues, or deviations to supervisors promptly.
    • Participate in ongoing training in sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in sanitation, janitorial, or food manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Ability to read and follow safety instructions, chemical labels, and sanitation procedures.
  • Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures, wet conditions, and heavy cleaning tasks.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to food safety.

Work Environment

  • Industrial food manufacturing facility (cold, wet, or humid conditions may apply).
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment.
  • This is an overnight shift position, from 9pm-5:30am.
