Job Overview of Custodian

The primary responsibility of the Custodian is to ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of spaces with our organization. This position performs a variety of custodial duties that include but are not limited to cleaning, organizing and disinfecting all offices, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, restrooms, closets, stairwells, windows, outdoor spaces and other assigned areas.

Schedule for Custodian: Hours are 6am until 3pm  Monday through Friday

Essential Duties of Custodian:

Key duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include but not limited to dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting, carpet cleaning, restocking paper and soap supplies.

•    Empty trash receptacles and disposes of trash appropriately.

•    Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff which may include submitting work orders via computerized system.

•    Performs routine maintenance of custodial equipment.

•    Ensures proper care in the use of custodial equipment and promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety.

•    Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine practices.

•    Assists with snow removal activities and minor maintenance of buildings such as paint touch ups, replacing light bulbs, or similar activities.

•    Properly mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals according to manufacturer’s instructions in only approved properly labeled containers.

•    Properly manages inventory of cleaning supplies.

•    Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Supports overall strategic plan of the organization. Ability to adhere to our organization's core values and commitments.

Essential Qualifications of Custodian: 

•    At least one year of work experience required in routine custodial duties

•    Good Oral and Written Communications Skills

•    Ability to speak and understand English language

•    Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively 

•    Ability to access and utilize computer applications such as email, HR system and work order system. 

      Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs
