The Glenwood Community School District is currently accepting applications for a Building Custodian at the high school. The starting wage is $15.06/hr. Full-time, with benefits.
BUILDING CUSTODIAN  

GLENWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOLS CLASSIFIED STAFF 

JOB DESCRIPTION  

Position: Building Custodian  

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent 
  • Ability to demonstrate aptitude for successful completion of assigned tasks through oral and written channels of communication
  • Possess and apply public relations skills effectively
  • Custodial work experience related to large-scale physical plant operation with educational facility experience being the most preferred 
  • Other custodial related work experience may also qualify for consideration (includes diplomas, certificates, references or licenses) 
  • Ability to pass background checks.

Reports To: Director of Operations

Consults With:

  • Administration, Lead Custodian, Support staff and Community members

Essential Function:

  • Ability to lift 70 pounds, operate machinery, communicate, work flexible hours, and have regular attendance.

Position Goal:

  • To provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient facility in which full educational and   community use may be provided at all times.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.
  • Perform district-wide maintenance/custodial duties as assigned.
  • Ensure the proper storage, maintenance, and use of supplies and equipment.
  • Comply with all district, local, state and federal laws or procedures, regarding the storage and disposal of chemicals and/or hazardous waste.
  • Maintain buildings, premises, sidewalks, driveways, playgrounds and activity areas, neat  and clean at all times. 
  • Maintain sidewalks, drives, parking lots and playgrounds free of any snow, ice and/or debris at all  times.
  • Mow designated areas.
  • Team with the district's custodial staff to perform cleaning, conditioning and/or other duties throughout the district as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Work any regular and/or extracurricular activity as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Terms of Employment: Twelve-month position.  Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and  modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one  exists.
