Position Purpose

The Custodial Associate works under the direction of the Custodial & Security Manager to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and ready for daily activities and events. This position is responsible for ensuring rooms are prepared as requested with appropriate setups, as well as performing general cleaning so that ministries, staff, guests, and outside groups experience a welcoming, well-maintained environment that supports the mission and ministries of the church.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning of all assigned areas of the church campus according to established custodial standards

  • Prepare rooms and ministry spaces by setting up and arranging tables, chairs, and other equipment and furnishings as requested

  • Reset rooms to standard configurations following events and activities

  • Maintain restrooms, kitchen, offices, common areas, and other spaces in a clean, sanitary, and well-stocked condition

  • Operate custodial equipment and use cleaning products safely and in accordance with established procedures

  • Identify and report maintenance, safety, security, or custodial concerns to the Custodial & Security Manager in a timely manner

  • Assist with outside event support, including room resets, equipment adjustments, and other facility preparation needs

  • Replenish cleaning products and supplies and notify the Custodial & Security Manager when inventory requires restocking

  • Perform seasonal, deep-cleaning, and special custodial projects as needed

  • This position requires working occasional additional hours outside of the regular work schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support events

  • Demonstrate a servant-hearted attitude by providing timely, courteous support to church staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and guests while contributing to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • 2-4 years of experience in a similar role

  • Strong communication skills both in public settings as well as interpersonally

  • Understanding, knowing and aligning to mission/vision

  • Excellent relational, interpersonal, problem-solving and rapport-building skills with both staff and volunteers

  • Excellent self-management skills; able to work independently depending on the need

  • Adapts effectively to changing priorities and performs effectively in pressure situations

  • High attention to detail

  • General computer proficiency and willingness to learn/adapt to church software

  • Must be able to read and understand room set up instructions, as well as communicate with coworkers and church attenders using both verbal and written English

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours, sit for up to 3 hours, and use computer for up to 3 hours

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted


2 positions are available:
Daytime position schedule is Sunday - Thursday 9:00am-4:30pm
Evening position schedule is Sunday - Thursday 3:30pm - 11:00pm
