Job description

The Director of Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for supervising teaching and assistant teaching staff in a special educaion school, mentoring new staff, developing professional development, and overseeing curriculum development.
Qualifications
  • An administrative credential granted by an accredited postsecondary educational institution
  • A minimum of three years of experience teaching pupils in special education
  • Experience mentoring teaching candidates in a special education program
  • Proficient in Google Classroom
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of staff members
  • Ability to problem-solve
  • Highly organized
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Mardan School

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teacher & Assistant Teacher Supervision
    • Supervise teachers and teaching assistants
    • Perform class observations
    • Conduct annual teacher and assistant teacher evaluations
    • Develop and implement teacher improvement plans as needed
    • Ensure proper coverage when program staff is absent
    • Regularly meet with teaching teams
  • Staff Meetings & Professional Development
    • Lead grade-level staff meetings
    • Develop and lead professional development as needed
  • Curriculum
    • Keep current with state and district curriculum requirements
    • Review and purchase appropriate curriculum materials
    • Track graduation requirements for all districts
  • Instructional Planning
    • Assist the Program Director with scheduling, programming, and credit tracking

HOURS, PAY, & BENEFITS:
  • The position is IN PERSON for 12 months per year
  • 10 paid personal days (prorated if not working the entire year)
  • 5 weeks of vacation per year (prorated if not working the entire year)
