Job description

LHH is searching for an Accounting Manager for a top Nonprofit organization based in Chicago. Preferably, the selected candidate will have eight years of hands-on Accounting Management experience with a mid-sized nonprofit organization. Responsibilities include ensuring financial activities and procedures are compliant with GAAP and leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process/deadlines. (DOE) Accounting Manager Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial statements
  • Develop, direct and plan current accounting policies and procedures including cost and general accounting
  • Manage month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare and approve journal entries and intercompany transactions
  • Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules and worksheets
  • Develop regular and ad hoc financial analysis as requested for internal management
  • Assist in tax and regulatory reporting and requirements
  • Recommend more efficient procedures when necessary
  • Apply sound professional judgment on details of work
  • Implement the strategic plan for the overall direction of accounting process
  • Analyze and communicate business performance
Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting or Finance
  • Eight years or more of experience in Accounting/Finance
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills
  • CPA is strongly preferred
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of Accounting
  • Strong Leadership abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects at one time
