Job Title: Product Marketing Director - Platform and Partner Ecosystem

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Product Marketing Director to join our Portfolio Marketing team within the Marketing division. This role will lead our Platform and Partnership Go-To-Market (GTM) launch efforts, managing a cohesive brand and partnership strategy that positions interoperability and integrated partners as a vital driver of customer value and platform strength. The Director will support scalable growth across our business, enhance our ecosystem value, and unlock new revenue opportunities for athenahealth.

The Director will manage a cohesive athenaConnect brand that positions interoperability and integrated ecosystem partnerships as a vital driver of customer value and athenahealth differentiation. As a key member of a cross-functional team, this individual will bridge connectivity between product, marketing, sales, service delivery, and the Partnership commercial teams.

This position will oversee product marketing for our interoperability platform and integrated partner solutions, focusing on product positioning, messaging, and commercial enablement programs to empower our commercial teams to effectively communicate the value of our market-leading integration capabilities to a broad audience spanning the healthcare ecosystem, including providers (ambulatory practices and health systems), payers, risk-bearing entities, and other ecosystem partners. This includes developing cohesive messaging that highlights the unique value of our network and partner ecosystem for each market segment. In this role, the Product Marketing Director will support the growth of athenahealth's multi-tier partnership program, developing partner-facing messaging and leading integrated partnership launches.

This role reports to the Vice President of Portfolio Marketing.

About the Team:
The Portfolio Marketing team supports athenahealth's commercial go-to-market strategy through market research, competitive intelligence, persona development, messaging and positioning, collateral development and enablement, and product launch oversight. We strive to deepen our understanding of our customers and their needs to create positioning and value propositions that evoke action. Acting as the storytellers of athenahealth, our team collaborates across the organization to ensure that commercial teams have the knowledge and content necessary to create demand, win new business, and drive growth within our customer base.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Own product marketing for the Athena Connect interoperability suite: Craft a cohesive and differentiated message to support articulation of athenahealth's interoperability and integration capabilities, marketed across the ecosystem to providers, payers, health systems, developers, and other ecosystem partners.

  • Curate partner ecosystem positioning and value messaging: Develop and expand provider-facing messaging and positioning that articulates the value of athenahealth's integrated partner network.

  • Lead high impact product and partnership launches Oversee the launch of new products and partnerships, from messaging and positioning through commercial enablement, and guide matrixed teams supporting launch efforts with clear communication and strategic leadership - ensuring alignment with commercial goals and market needs.

  • Competitive Analysis:Work with internal competitive intelligence teams to inform analysis of competitors' interoperability products, strategies, and market positioning to inform differentiation and GTM strategies.

  • Commercial Enablement:Equip commercial teams with the necessary knowledge, content, and tools to effectively communicate product value and drive sales.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:Act as a liaison between product, marketing, sales, service delivery, and the Partner Marketing team to ensure effective product positioning and launch execution. Work in close partnership with Partner Marketing, which will lead partner campaigns, marketplace promotion, co-marketing, and activation programs.

Expected Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; degree in business, marketing, or communications preferred.

  • 10+ years of professional experience marketing within the healthcare IT / EHR industry.

  • 5+ years of experience in product marketing, managing product launches, and developing messaging and enablement programs.

  • Strong familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards and frameworks (e.g., HL7/FHIR, USCDI, EDI) and a working understanding of the broader interoperability landscape is required.

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, translating market insights into actionable marketing strategies.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Strong leadership skills, with comfort leading across both direct and matrix teams.

Expected Compensation

$156,000 - $264,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevantknowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles,and geographical market rates. Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
