Position Summary
Under close supervision and according to established policies and procedures, assists in the preparation and setup of meal service, serves customers, and assists in the breakdown and cleanup of service areas. Receives, picks up, and/or delivers food items and supplies; stocks shelves and beverage refrigerators; operates dish room equipment; cleans equipment; and performs other miscellaneous duties, as required.
Responsibilities
  • Operates dish room equipment and responsible for washing and proper organization and storage of ALL dishes, trays, pots, pans and utensils. Sweeps and mops floors, freezers and coolers as needed.

  • Empties trash containers; removes trash to compactor as needed.

  • Assists receiving food items and supplies, stocking shelves and beverage refrigerators, picks up and/or delivers food, supplies, and other items. This may involve driving to and from various off-premises locations.

  • Job requires flexibility in order to be able to perform any and all of the above duties.

  • Demonstrates respect, courtesy and professionalism to all patients, guests and hospital associates at all times. Demonstrates commitment to service and contributes to creating a positive, caring environment.

  • Follows and complies with all mandatory sanitation policies and procedures.

  • Greets and positively responds to all customer needs.

  • Receives cash payments and makes change as required for all sales of food in cafeteria. Able to operate POS system.

  • Assists in cleaning, restocking items, and serving customers.

  • Balances cash drawer, prepares cashiers reports, pre-sets register, and secures change from office safe for the next day.

  • Responsible for ensuring that personal performance reflects the Mission, Vision, Standards of Behavior, and

  • Service Goals. Requires constant/accurate communication with Director and Supervisors and able communicate customer feed back.

Requirements
  • Minimum requirement, high school diploma or GED.

  • 2 years of food service experience required.

  • Must be Serve Safe certified.

  • Requires a substantial level of physical effort. Job involves lifting, moving, loading, or unloading materials, pushing heavy objects, and heavy scrubbing.

  • Work requires very frequent contact with others. Must be able to provide directions and perform other activities, with a high level of professionalism.

  • Follows and complies with all company, departmental, state, federal and local regulations and codes.

  • Requires a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and a driving record acceptable to the Hospital's liability carrier in order to drive vans or small trucks for the purpose of delivering food and supplies.
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
