What is the CTA Second Chance Program?

The CTA Second Chance Program is an initiative by the Chicago Transit Authority designed to provide job opportunities and job-readiness training for individuals who face barriers to employment, such as those with criminal records or gaps in their work history. Strong communication, punctuality, and a positive attitude help individuals adapt and make a strong impression in a supportive, transitional environment. These skills and qualities are essential for building a solid employment track record and increasing future job prospects within the transit industry or other fields.

What is a second chance job seeker?

Job description

Description

Company information:

www.volumod.com

Volumod (Vol-U-mod) is a multi-family modular construction company located on the Far East Side of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Volumod's team of more than 100 skilled professionals builds apartment buildings and other multi-family housing in sections - called modules - within a heated-and-cooled facility. On the factory floor, each home moves through 20 different stations, including framing, electrical, plumbing, flooring, drywall, siding, roofing, and interior finish, with kitchens and bathrooms installed, to produce a home that is 90% complete!

The modules are then wrapped, transported by semi truck, and lifted with a crane to form multifamily communities. Modular construction improves speed, consistency, quality, and efficiency compared with traditional, onsite construction, bringing value to our clients.

At Volumod, we're not just delivering a better product to our clients. We're helping transform lives by creating beautiful, affordable housing - sacred spaces where people live and are proud to call home.  We're also passionate about seeing lives transformed within the Volumod organization as our employees improve their lives with a great job and whole-person support that helps them thrive in every area. We offer living wages, major medical coverage, 401K contributions, and a culture of hope. Will you join us?

Responsibilities:

Works in a safe manner following all safety policies while performing job duties.

Maintains open communication with supervisor regarding safety concerns and assembly of building components.

Follows work orders and instructions in order to accurately and efficiently prepare and assemble building components based on assigned production area (construction worker, electrician, drywaller, framing carpenter, trim carpenter).

Meets weekly production goals per assigned production supervisor or team lead.

Maintains a good attendance record and proactively communicates and coordinates with supervisors regarding attendance.

Maintains and keeps tools, machinery, and work area clean and organized.

Performs various other job duties as assigned and needed.

Benefits:

Volumod offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support our employees' health, financial well-being, and work-life balance. Eligible employees receive medical, dental, and vision insurance, along with company-paid life and disability coverage. We provide a 401(k) plan with company contributions, paid time off, and paid holidays. Additional benefits include ancillary coverage such as critical illness, hospitalization, accident, tuition reimbursement, employee assistance programs, and production bonus programs. Our goal is to invest in our team by providing meaningful benefits that help you thrive both personally and professionally.   This is a fast paced fun environment where a trade can be learned, a sacred space created, and a life can be transformed.

We are not accepting candidates from recruiters or staffing firms.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • This is a physically demanding job requiring the ability to lift 40+ pounds, to grip, work over head, pull at chest height, bend, stand, walk, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach, climb and carry various materials and equipment.
