We are seeking a skilled Body Shop Paint Prep Technician to join our team in Ligonier, IN that embodies our core values. Essential Duties:

  • Assist Paint Technician by preparing vehicles and parts for painting using proper techniques, equipment and materials 

  • Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces in preparation for paint application
  • Apply paper and masking tape to protect non-painted surfaces (windows, bumpers, trim, etc)
  • May assist Paint Technician with blending as needed
  • Works with paint team to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery
  • Maintain all tools and equipment, keep workspace clean and organized
  • disassemble, clean, reassemble sprayers and power equipment
  • Ensure paint area (prep station, paint booth, etc) and paint mix/storage rooms are clean and all refinish products are stored as directed
  • Help with general maintenance of paint booths
  • Help with reassembly of vehicle-replace final molding, trim and detail pieces
  • utilize all safety equipment and follow proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA and BZ safety guidelines
  • Wear and use required safety equipment (respirator, eye and skin protectors), handle and dispose of hazardous waste properly
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions. The candidate must be able to respond professionally and effectively to customer inquiries and concerns, as well as communicate information clearly to management when needed.

This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy equipment, and work in environments with varying temperatures. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and demonstrate proficiency in the use of power tools and equipment, including sanders, buffers, and spray equipment.
