What are some typical challenges CSTs (Certified Surgical Technologists) encounter in the operating room, and how can they effectively manage them?

CSTs often face high-pressure situations, such as unexpected changes during surgery or the need to quickly adapt to new procedures and technologies. Maintaining clear communication with the surgical team, staying organized with instrument trays, and anticipating the surgeon's needs are essential strategies for managing these challenges. Additionally, staying up-to-date with continuing education helps CSTs remain knowledgeable about new surgical techniques and equipment. Building strong teamwork and maintaining composure under stress are key to success in this dynamic environment.

What are CSTs?

CSTs, or Certified Surgical Technologists, are allied health professionals who assist in surgical operations. They work alongside surgeons, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure that surgeries are performed efficiently and safely by preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and passing tools during procedures. CSTs are also responsible for maintaining a sterile environment and monitoring the needs of the surgical team. To become a CST, individuals typically complete an accredited surgical technology program and pass a certification exam. Their role is critical in minimizing the risk of infection and supporting patient safety during surgery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Customer Service Technical Support (CSTS) specialist, and why are they important?

Familiarity with ticketing systems, CRM software, and sometimes certifications like CompTIA A+ are highly valued.
