Union County Educational Services Commission is a public agency in Westfield, NJ that was established to provide cost-effective educational programs and services for the twenty-one public school districts located in Union County. The Commission is currently seeking a full-time Registered Behavior Technician at Crossroads School, a public elementary and middle school program for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disabilities.
Scope of Position:
The Registered Behavior Technician is a Teacher Assistant who contributes to a safe and effective learning environment by implementing evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis principles in classrooms under the close and ongoing supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst.
Description:
  • Full-Time, 10-Month Position
  • Hours: 8:20 - 2:40 p.m.

  • Salary: $32,879 - $40,229
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma. 60 credits from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Substitute Teacher Credential issued by the New Jersey Department of Education preferred.
  • RBT Certification required.
  • Work experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other related developmental disabilities in a public or private school setting preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to relate well with school administrators, teaching staff, students, parents and members of the local community.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper vocabulary and grammar.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct instruction to teach communication, social and daily living skills to students in individual and group settings at school and in the local community.
  • Implement classroom-based interventions to support the positive transition of new students and/or students experiencing challenging and problematic behaviors.
  • Accurately collect, record and graph a variety of observable data for purposes of monitoring student progress and evaluating the efficacy of behavioral interventions.
  • Assist Board Certified Behavior Analysts with the development and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Contribute to staff training by modeling effective instructional and behavior interventions.
  • Participate in relevant professional opportunities to remain abreast of current practices in Applied Behavior Analysis and other related courses of study.
  • Engage in close and ongoing supervision with assigned Board-Certified Behavior Analyst in accordance with published requirements of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Perform all other related duties and responsibilities outlined in the UCESC Board-approved job description for Teacher Assistant as assigned by the Principal or Supervisor.
