Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Design Engineer will contribute to the development and maintain of both new and existing products; work in a cross-functional environment with electrical controls, thermal & other development groups; manage a variety of tasks and activities in this dynamic environment; and solve complex problems related to High density and Liquid cooling applications for data centers.
This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Ironton, OH location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide daily support to manufacturing operations by ensuring seamless product flow through the production line, coordinating with both on-site factory personnel and the extended Center of Excellence (COE) team.
  • Creates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOM's based on options selected by the customer.
  • Works with Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all their needs.
  • Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise.
  • Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
  • Understanding the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
  • Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or directly related degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of mechanical design & analysis experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products, and safety.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferred CREO 10.0 and greater
  • Experience with Sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
  • Create and revise drawings and bills of materials.
  • Change order management and Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, etc.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in cross functional global development teams.
