Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob DescriptionThis engineer will be working on a multitude of development projects, from concept to launch.
- 50% of time will be spent using Creo. The other 50% will be spend problem solving, primarily on design for manufacturability getting products ready for launch. Projects can be concept to production, production support.
- There's 5 new projects launching right now.
Hours: 8am - 5pm (flexible) - typical 40 hour work week
Responsibilities- Development design work using Creo.
- Work with Program Managers to ensure project is delivered on time and is within expectations.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to make sure things are going together as expected. Troubleshoot issues and complete design changes.
- Work with purchasing team to engage with suppliers. Provide CAD data, models, drawings & create drawings.
- Work with tool shop on creating or modifying tools.
- Developing new plastic design, work with molding department to determine if it's moldable.
- May get hands on with testing. Testing is typically already outlined, will run equipment to execute testing.
Must Have Qualifications - Bachelors Degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering Experience
- CAD Proficiency (solidworks or Creo preferred)
- Understands how to design with manufacturing in mind. Design for Manufacturability experience.
- Experience working with multiple materials - plastic injection molding, die casting, aluminum extrusions, metal fabrication, formed sheet metal, plastics etc.
"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications
-Formal/Informal Lead or Leadership experience - experience working cross-functionally with different departments
-Examples of putting hand-up to direct work and share ideas with team.
-Rough metal fabrication – break forming, sheet metal, light welding operations, machining, mill, lathe, CNC

-Smartsheets
Work EnvironmentYou will be part of a supportive team including a Project Manager, two customer engineers, one project engineer, and two part-time team members.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.86 - $48.08/hr.
