Job description

To this purpose, we are now seeking a passionate mechanical optical engineer who is committed to making a difference in the world through their contributions. You will be responsible for micro-optical component design for NVIDIA's products.

We are looking for a highly motivated mechanical engineer in the Advanced Technology Group (ATG). Do you have a strong background in precision mechanical components and advanced manufacturing? Are you proficient in one of the underlying fields such as mechanical engineering, optical devices, and materials processing? If yes, then we'd love to hear from you! The job requires working on complex problems and products; you will be providing solutions that are highly creative and directly contribute to product differentiation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Defining mechanical-optical design rules using simulation software.

  • Discuss with vendors to set DOE plans and data acquisition.

  • Running optical test systems to determine product performance.

  • Root cause analysis and debugging unique failures.

  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams within NVIDIA and define optical packaging requirements.


What we need to see:

  • Bachelor degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related fields or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years mechanical design experience.

  • Knowledge in micro-optic design and optical termination standards.

  • Basic photonic device knowledge.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Background of mechanical simulation software like Ansys or Abacus.

  • Working knowledge of optical simulation software like Lumerical and Zemax.


Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience in using bleeding edge simulation tools like Ansys Optislang.

  • Solid understanding of AutoCad,

  • Basic understanding of flip chip packaging process.

  • 3D CAD tools like Solidworks.

  • Working level knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 124,000 USD - 195,500 USD for Level 3, and 140,000 USD - 224,250 USD for Level 4.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
