Job Summary:

The Creative Services Manager, Local Media, is responsible for managing the graphics systems, workflows, and operational support that enable high-quality live game and studio productions across the NBA's Local Media organization. Reporting to the Production Technology Lead, this role oversees the day-to-day operation, implementation, and continuous improvement of graphics technology while supporting standardized production workflows across all team markets.

Working closely with Production Operations, Broadcast Engineering, Creative Services, and third-party vendors, the Creative Services Manager ensures graphics systems are reliable, scalable, video elements are crisp, and aligned with the creative and editorial needs of NBA Local Media productions. The role also supports the implementation of new technologies, workflow enhancements, and graphics innovations that improve production quality and operational efficiency.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operation and support of graphics systems and video elements used for live games, studio programming, and ancillary content.

  • Oversee graphics workflows, ensuring consistency, brand standards and quality across all Local Media productions.

  • Support the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of real-time graphics systems and related production technology.

  • Collaborate with the VP, Production Technology Lead on implementing graphics technology initiatives, workflow improvements, and system upgrades.

  • Partner with Production Operations and Creative Services to develop and maintain standardized graphics packages (e.g. score bug, insert, wraparound), templates, and workflows.

  • Manage graphics data integrations, including statistics, scoring systems, sponsorship elements, and other live data feeds.

  • Work closely with Content Planning to develop customized graphics, elements and video to support tentpole events on a league wide and team-by-team basis.

  • Coordinate with Broadcast Engineering to ensure graphics systems are fully integrated within centralized control rooms, REMI productions, and cloud-enabled workflows.

  • Lead graphics support during live productions, ensuring systems perform reliably, and production issues are resolved quickly.

  • Maintain graphics asset libraries, templates, naming conventions, and version control processes.

  • Evaluate graphics workflows and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, reliability, and production quality.

  • Assist in testing and implementing new graphics technologies, automation tools, and cloud-based production solutions.

  • Coordinate with graphics vendors and technology partners to resolve technical issues and support ongoing system enhancements.

  • Develop documentation, operational procedures, and best practices for graphics operations.

  • Schedule and supervise graphics operators and technical staff supporting Local Media productions.

  • Train, mentor, and develop graphics personnel to ensure consistent execution and technical proficiency.

  • Support budget planning by identifying operational needs and opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.

Required Education/Professional Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience supporting graphics systems in live sports, broadcast television, or media production.

  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Technology, Media Production, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

  • Experience operating or supporting real-time graphics systems within live production environments.

  • Experience with graphics platforms such as Vizrt, Ross XPression, Chyron, Singular.Live, Unreal Engine, or similar technologies.

  • Experience supporting live sports productions preferred.

  • Experience working with or managing staff in motion graphics

  • Experience working with broadcast technology vendors and systems integrators.

  • Previous experience supervising technical staff or project teams preferred.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of live broadcast graphics workflows and production operations.

  • Experience supporting real-time graphics systems and data-driven graphics workflows.

  • Understanding of broadcast production signal flow and graphics integration.

  • Working knowledge of IP-based production environments, including SMPTE ST 2110, NDI, SRT, and cloud production concepts.

  • Familiarity with sports statistics systems, scoring data, and automated graphics workflows.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fast-paced live production environments.

  • Established history of creating a culture of consistent feedback and coaching across all levels

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across Production, Engineering, Creative Services, and external vendors.

  • Ability to lead technical teams while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and innovation.

  • Solid understanding of production operations and the ability to balance technical quality with production deadlines.

Salary Range:

$110,000 - $130,000
