Compa Industries is seeking qualified candidates for a Media Production / Services Specialist 2 position supporting Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. This is an as-needed, part-time role supporting official Laboratory photography, videography, video editing, digital media production, training content, promotional materials, documentation, and internal/external communications.
This role is ideal for a versatile media professional — a true photo, video, and editing “jack of all trades” — who can support field shoots across the Laboratory and complete post-production work remotely when appropriate.

On-Call:Â Possible as needed
Salary: $38/hr – $48/hr, depending on experience.
Position Overview
The Media Production / Services Specialist 2 will research, prepare, capture, edit, and produce digital imagery, including still photography and video, for official Laboratory purposes. Work may support training, promotion, documentation, presentations, internal communications, external communications, events, technical work, and other customer-driven media needs.
The selected candidate will serve as a customer-facing media resource, working directly with Laboratory organizations to understand project needs, plan visual content, capture professional-quality photo and video assets, and deliver finished media products.
This is not a full-time role. Work will be as needed, with some weeks potentially requiring significant hours and other weeks having little or no work. Candidates must be flexible, responsive, and comfortable supporting intermittent project-based media needs.

Video editing is the top priority for this role, followed by shooting/video production and photography.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture professional still photography and video for official LANL use.
- Edit video content for training, promotional, documentation, and communications needs.
- Support digital imagery requests for internal and external Laboratory audiences.
- Serve as a primary customer-facing contact for photo and video production support.
- Conduct needs assessments with Laboratory customers to determine scope, audience, purpose, and deliverables.
- Develop visual media content and presentation materials based on customer requirements.
- Advise customers on Laboratory media policies, procedures, and production expectations.
- Support onsite media shoots at TA-3 and other Laboratory areas as needed.
- Complete post-production work, including editing, file organization, and final media delivery.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite and related media tools to produce polished deliverables.
- Coordinate schedules, plan shoots, manage equipment needs, and deliver work under limited direction.
- Resolve creative and technical issues throughout the production process.
- Maintain professionalism while supporting secure or controlled Laboratory environments.
Minimum Requirements
- Professional experience in photography, videography, video editing, media production, communications, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Strong video editing experience.
- Experience shooting video and capturing professional photography.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite or similar editing/media production tools.
- Strong computer skills and ability to manage digital media files and production workflows.
- Ability to work independently under limited direction.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interface directly with customers.
- Ability to support hybrid/as-needed work, including onsite reporting whenever a job requires it.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
- Ability to support A-Level Access requirements.
- Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment and stand/walk for extended periods during shoots.
Highly Desired Experience
- Experience supporting government, laboratory, scientific, technical, engineering, or highly regulated environments.
- Experience producing training videos, promotional content, event coverage, executive communications, or technical documentation media.
- Experience creating content for both internal and external audiences.
- Experience with animations, motion graphics, graphics support, or visual effects.
- Experience managing end-to-end media production from planning through final delivery.
- Experience working with subject matter experts, communications teams, technical teams, or leadership stakeholders.
- Experience supporting on-location shoots in large facilities, campuses, secure environments, or industrial settings.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating video editing, videography, photography, and visual storytelling.

Work Schedule / Assignment Type
This is an as-needed, part-time role and is not a full-time position.
The expected structure is 5/8s when scheduled, but actual hours will depend on Laboratory customer needs. Some weeks may have regular billable work, some weeks may be heavier, and some weeks may have little or no work.
Candidates should be flexible and available for onsite media assignments when requested. Post-production and editing work may be completed remotely when appropriate.
Clearance Requirements
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance.
- Candidates do not need an active Q Clearance to be submitted.
- Candidates must be willing and able to obtain Q Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship is typically required for DOE clearance eligibility.
- Unescorted access and A-Level Access will be required.
Physical Requirements
This position may require physical activity during media production work, including:
- Walking across Laboratory sites.
- Standing for extended periods during shoots.
- Carrying media equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Supporting onsite work in different Laboratory areas as needed.

The ideal candidate is a flexible, experienced media professional with strong video editing skills, hands-on videography experience, and professional photography capabilities. This person should be comfortable working with customers, planning shoots, capturing content onsite, editing independently, and delivering polished media products for official use.
