Main mission


Red Barrels is looking for a talented 3D Character Artist who brings a high level of creativity and innovation to their work. We are looking for someone who is interested in doing things differently and thrives in a cross studio collaborative environment. This role would have you working closely with designers, artists, and the programming team to bring a high-quality player experience to The Outlast Trials.


Tasks and missions

  • You are part of the character team. You work closely with various members of our team, such as the art director, art technical director, creative director, lead animator, game director, narrative designer, writer to realize our games and our game's characters.
  • Create characters in line with technical specifications and deadlines.
  • You find yourself working onestablishingpipelines andpracticesfor a good workflow.
  • On the creative side you work within the established style of the game - creating art, researching, and documenting.
  • You create our main cast of characters as well as preparing them for other parts of developmentfurtherdown the pipeline.
  • You will work onvarious typesof characters: player characters (and customization/ cosmetics pipeline) and various enemy characters.


Profile

  • Knowledge in 3D character creation pipelines in digital games.
  • Knowledge ofZbrush.
  • Knowledge of 3D software (3dsMax or Blender preferred).
  • Being up to date with the latest trends in 3D art tools and techniques.
  • A strong portfoliodemonstratingknowledge of anatomy,clothandhard surfacemodeling.
  • Not being afraid to give feedback to coworkers and outsourcers.
  • Substance Painter for creatinghigh qualitytextures.
  • Marvelous Designer skills for the creation of clothing.

  • Experience withconverting high poly sculpts to a game ready state (Low poly / UV / Baking).
