What is a creative intern?

A creative intern works as part of the creative team at a private company, advertising agency, or similar organization. Your main job duties involve working with other members of the team on design projects for print and online media. In addition to a strong portfolio of creative work, the position requires you to have strong communication and time management skills. Qualifications include work experience in the specific field for which you are seeking an internship, as well as familiarity with relevant industry software. Working as a creative intern is one way to get a career in advertising, design, or marketing.

What types of projects and responsibilities can a creative intern typically expect during their internship?

As a Creative Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects ranging from brainstorming sessions to assisting with content creation such as graphics, copywriting, or video editing, depending on the organization. Community & Social Media Intern

PlayStation Global

Montreal, QC • On-site

Internship

Posted 19 days ago

Job description

Haven Studios is a game development studio headquartered in Montreal. In May 2021, we embarked on a journey to start Haven as a small team with big ambitions. Our goal was to build a studio of exceptional people where together we could make the kind of games we've always wanted to create - games we've longed to play. At Haven, we believe that kindness, adaptability and fearless optimism make space for creative excellence. We are a hybrid studio that supports flexibility, focus and collaboration for our teams.

Haven joined the PlayStation Studios family as the first Sony game development team in Canada in 2022. Our first game is in development for PlayStation and PC, a competitive multiplayer action heist game with a vision to entertain and engage players for years to come.

Position - Community & Social Media Intern -  Fall-Winter 2026

About the Role:

We're looking for a curious, creative, and community-minded intern who's passionate about multiplayer games and the communities that form around them. This internship is designed for someone who lives online-whether that's creating content on TikTok, spending time in Discord communities, watching Twitch, or following the latest multiplayer games.

You'll work alongside our Community team to help engage players, support social and creator initiatives, and learn how community management operates inside an AAA game studio. No two days are the same-you'll contribute to player conversations, content creation, feedback analysis, creator programs, and live playtests while gaining firsthand experience helping launch a brand-new live service game.
This role offers broad exposure across Community, Marketing, Production, Player Experience, and Live Operations, making it an excellent opportunity for someone eager to build a career in the games industry.

 What You'll Do
  • Community Engagement

    • Engage daily with players across Discord and other community platforms.

    • Help answer questions, encourage conversations, and foster a welcoming, inclusive environment.

    • Identify recurring questions, trends, and emerging discussions.

  • Social & Content:

    • Support the creation of short-form social content for platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and X.

    • Collaborate with the Community Content Manager to plan, prepare, and publish community communications.

    • Assist with basic video editing, image creation, and social asset production.

  • Player Insights:

    • Monitor player conversations and sentiment across social platforms and Discord.

    • Capture community feedback and summarize actionable insights for development teams.

    • Help identify emerging community trends and opportunities.

  • Team & Partner Coordination:

    • Partner with Community, Marketing, and Player Experience teams.

    • Learn the tools and workflows that support a modern live game.

 How You'll Be Supported
  • Dedicated mentorship: You'll work closely with the Community Lead, Community Content Manager, and broader Player Experience team, receiving regular coaching, feedback, and guidance throughout your internship.

  • Cross-functional exposure: Collaborate with teams across Production, Marketing, Creative, Design, Player Experience, and Live Operations to see how an AAA game comes together before launch.

  • Meaningful ownership: You'll contribute to real community initiatives, social content, playtests, and player engagement-not just observe from the sidelines.

  • Room to grow: You'll be encouraged to bring new ideas, experiment with creative content, and take ownership of projects while receiving support along the way.

  • Professional development: Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard community, social media, and collaboration tools while learning best practices for community management in the games industry.

 What We're Looking For
  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Creative Media, or a related field.

  • Passionate about multiplayer games and the communities that surround them.

  • Active in online communities such as Discord, Reddit, Twitch, or similar platforms-you understand how players communicate online.

  • Familiar with social platforms including TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram, Twitch, and X.

  • A creative storyteller who enjoys creating engaging social content.

  • Strong written communication skills and an eye for detail.

  • Curious, proactive, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excited to learn community management and how player feedback helps shape game development.

  • Based in Montreal and able to work in our studio environment.

Nice to Have:
  • Streaming or content creation experience.

  • Fluent in both English and French.

  • Familiarity with live service or multiplayer games.

Tools You'll Use with Guidance
  • Discord

  • TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram, X, Reddit, Steam

  • Photoshop, Premiere Pro, CapCut, Canva (or similar creative tools)

  • Jira

  • Google Workspace

  • Community analytics and social listening tools

What You'll Gain
  • Hands-on experience helping launch a AAA multiplayer live service game.

  • Mentorship from experienced Community, Creator, Marketing, and Player Experience professionals.

  • Exposure to cross-functional collaboration with Production, Design, Marketing, Creative, and Live Operations teams.

  • Experience creating social campaigns, community content, and player engagement initiatives.

  • Practical experience analyzing player sentiment and turning community feedback into actionable insights.

  • A portfolio of published social content, creator campaigns, playtest initiatives, and community programs.

  • A deep understanding of how successful gaming communities are built before and after launch.
