Job description

About Sun Country Airlines

We’re not your average airline. We’re agile, resilient, and full of unique opportunity. Here, you can grow as part of an ambitious team that safely and collectively supports each other, our travelers, and our community. Together, we're making travel more attainable.

With more than 40 years of Minnesota roots, we're a unique hybrid low-cost carrier offering diverse services including scheduled flights to destinations across the U.S., Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean, as well as charter and cargo operations around the world. At Sun Country, you'll be part of a growing airline, and an enthusiastic team focused on connecting our community with their favorite people and places.

Social Media Content Specialist Overview:

The Social Media Content Specialist is responsible for creating, publishing, and managing engaging organic social media content that brings the Sun Country Airlines brand to life. This role combines creative storytelling, copywriting, photography, short-form video production, and community engagement to support the company's presence across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other emerging platforms. Working closely with the Marketing team, this individual will identify compelling stories across the airline, capture content in the field, and develop social-first content that highlights our people, destinations, customers, and culture. The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter who is equally comfortable behind a camera, writing copy, editing video, and interacting with employees throughout the organization.

This is a part-time contract position, approximately 20 hours per week, with an anticipated duration of 9–12 months.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Marketing & Social Media Content Creation

  • Create engaging organic social media content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other digital platforms.
  • Write compelling, brand-aligned copy tailored to each social platform.
  • Capture photo and video content using professional cameras and mobile devices.
  • Edit short-form videos, reels, stories, and other platform-native content.
  • Develop creative concepts that showcase Sun Country destinations, employees, aircraft, customers, partnerships, and company culture.
  • Stay current on platform trends and recommend content ideas that align with emerging formats and audience behaviors. Assist with real-time content creation during events, launches, route announcements, and company initiatives.

Social Media Management

  • Publish and schedule content across Sun Country's social media channels.
  • Coordinate content calendars with the Marketing team.
  • Monitor channel performance and recommend optimizations based on engagement trends.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all published content.
  • Assist with basic community management by responding to comments and directing customer inquiries to appropriate teams when needed.

Team Collaboration & Workflow Optimization

  • Partner with the Marketing team to support brand campaigns and communications initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify stories worth sharing.
  • Work with external partners and agencies as needed to support social content initiatives.
  • Maintain organized libraries of social media assets for future use.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Photography, Film, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience creating content for social media
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone across multiple platforms.
  • Experience creating and editing short-form video content.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Canva, Final Cut Pro, or similar creative tools.
  • Strong photography and mobile content creation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing social media for a consumer-facing brand.
  • Experience in travel, hospitality, aviation, sports, or lifestyle brands.
  • Familiarity with social media scheduling platforms.
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics and performance reporting.
  • Experience working with creators or influencers.
