About the Role
As a Music Teacher at Merryhill School, you will inspire students to explore, appreciate, and create music through thoughtful, engaging instruction. Our music program is designed to cultivate creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong passion for the arts. We are looking for a dedicated educator who can build an inclusive, dynamic classroom experience that supports a wide range of musical skills and interests.
You will also:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum covering theory, history, and performance
  • Encourage students to explore various instruments, musical genres, and modes of expression
  • Organize and conduct school concerts, recitals, and musical events
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate music across the broader school curriculum
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and participation
  • Create and maintain an organized, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
  • Daily schedule of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Will provide music education classes during the academic day (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.) and offer semi-private, private, and group music lessons through the after-school program (3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.). The ideal candidate should have the ability to play and teach multiple instruments, with a strong preference for experience with strings and piano. Experience levels will be considered broadly; however, the candidate must be comfortable supporting a program where each grade level has an assigned instrument and receives structured music instruction. The instructor will also coordinate and support a minimum of two musical performances throughout the school year, along with student music recitals, providing opportunities for students to showcase their growth and celebrate their musical achievements.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Music teaching certification preferred
  • Prior teaching experience, especially in a school setting, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and performance
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for teaching and supporting student development through the arts
