RN COVID-19 Responsibilities

The RN shall assess acute and chronic conditions including physical, psychosocial, home health, and education needs as it pertains to patients. The RN shall observe and assess patient's conditions; recognize, identify, and interpret serious situations and immediately decide on proper action. The RN shall perform patient assessments and evaluations consistent with the Gallup Service Unit COVID Program (testing, vaccinations, and COVID Therapeutics). The RN shall screen patients and evaluates chief complaint. The RN shall initiate treatment measures based on appropriate utilization of standing orders, certifications, and standards of care for the COVID program. The RN shall consult with the attending provider and collaborate in developing a multi-disciplinary approach to the provision of care. The RN plans and modifies nursing care as needed. The RN administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician such as medications, infusions, and vaccinations. The registered nurse shall implement a plan of care as indicated by the patient's condition, age, and medical history. The COVID-19 registered nurse shall carry out treatments in emergency or other procedures required. Develops an age-specific standard of care based on position medical care plan and includes problems, expected outcomes (patient care standards), deadlines, and interventions/ plan of action, therapeutic measures, and nursing interventions for the adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. The RN will administer oxygen and other respiratory treatment; parental fluids, N antibiotics, various emergency and routine medications, topical and systemic medications, including immunizations and conscious sedations prior to special procedures. The RN performs patient assessment and evaluation consistent with emergency care: determine nursing procedures and practices to use, and periodically evaluates the plan of care to obtain optimal results. Initiates emergency interventions as indicated by patient condition, age and medical history.

Registered Nurse โ€“ Requirements

Experience: Must have a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience with a background in adult and pediatric populations. Prior experience with the COVID program (COVID testing, COVID therapeutics, and COVID vaccinations) is preferred but not required. Certification: Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required. Education: Must be a graduate an accredited college or university through the ACEN/CCNE in a nursing program with at least an associates degree. License/Registration: All nurses shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing within a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
