GCOM is looking for candidates, to fill a role of Technical Writer & Editor, to join our Fire Department of New York City (FDNY) Team located in New York, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Technical Writer in developing technical training documentation and user guides to support the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) Fire Inspection Revenue and Enforcement System (FIRES) project
  • Interact with multiple subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure data accuracy and will be responsible for learning the capabilities and functions of all relevant use cases.
  • Work with the Senior Technical Writer to help gather, develop and deliver technical materials for the internal team and for the Client. Once all relevant technical information has been acquired and understood, produce and disseminate technical documentation specifically tailored for the intended end-user audience
  • Support Training team

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years’ proven industry experience as an effective technical writer and communicator.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Firm understanding of the systems development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Ability to tailor written documentation to multiple end-user audience types.
  • Working knowledge of MS Visio, SharePoint and web-based software
  • Adept in quickly learning and understanding complex topics
  • Demonstrated attention to detail (e.g., syntax; uniformity / consistency; punctuation; etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Graphic design familiarly a plus
  • Some level of experience with Accela or any COTS (Commercial off the shelf) product is required.
  • Team player and ability to take directions.
