Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for providing a reliable, flexible, scalable, secure and efficient IT infrastructure to meet current and future organizational needs. They have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in enterprise-wide platforms, and solve technical problems while working on technology initiatives. Infrastructure Engineers have strong architectural, leadership, and technical skills. They ensure delivery of high quality artifacts, define standards and configuration for the IT infrastructure and ensure adherence to these standards. Infrastructure Engineers interact in a highly effective manner with other team members and management, drive innovation, and influence delivery and performance.
Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for designing, building, securing, and maintaining a highly reliable, scalable, and efficient hybrid-cloud IT infrastructure to meet the continuous growth of Costco's eCommerce and enterprise business units. This role combines deep infrastructure domain expertise with a modern DevOps mindset, serving as a key driver for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) via Terraform, CI/CD pipeline automation, and site reliability.
As a senior member of the Digital Infrastructure Team, you will lead Epic-level initiatives, collaborate closely with Solution Architects, mentor junior team members, and ensure our mobile and web-based platforms are highly available, secure, and optimized for performance.

ROLE
  • Evaluates vendor hardware recommendations for operations reliability.
  • Implements practices, processes, and procedures consistent with Costco's information security policy and IT standards.
  • Automates, documents, shares, educates, delegates, and improves processes.
  • Automates activities and tasks by leveraging API's.
  • Architects, deploys, configures, and scales high-availability environments across enterprise cloud platforms (GCP/Azure) and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Advances and maintains automated provisioning of Dev, Test, Staging, and Production environments utilizing Terraform and configuration management tools.
  • Conducts performance and cost analysis on existing infrastructure components to recommend and implement optimizations for system growth.
  • Designs, builds, and optimizes robust CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployments, infrastructure updates, and testing frameworks.
  • Streamlines operations by leveraging APIs and scripting to automate repetitive tasks and eliminate manual intervention.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional development pods and QA teams in an Agile environment to champion DevOps best practices and improve environment stability.
  • Manages, patches, and supports digital cloud and on-prem application workloads (including Redis, Windows/Linux servers, BizTalk, and IHS).
  • Designs, implements, and monitors application and infrastructure health dashboards using modern cloud-native observability tools and other monitoring tools.
  • Identifies application and infrastructure bottlenecks, executing remediation measures to ensure continuous availability and adherence to SLAs.
  • Configures, automates, and manages Next Generation Web Application Firewalls (NGWAF), Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), DNS, Routing, Load Balancers, and SSL/TLS certificates.
  • Develops security monitoring rules, alerts, and access policies; investigate potential security incidents using log analysis.
  • Reviews vulnerability scan reports and conducts periodic assessments to remediate security gaps, ensuring strict compliance with information security policies, Privacy requirements, IT standards, and regulatory controls (including PCI, SOX).
  • Leads Epic-level (projects) and initiatives from planning through delivery, coordinating contributions from multiple team members.
  • Partners with Product Managers, Solution Leads, and Architects to establish Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates and work breakdown schedules (WBS) for project infrastructure components.
  • Mentors and serves as an educational resource for junior members of the Digital team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge.
  • Translates high-level conceptual designs into low-level technical execution and scalable frameworks.
  • Demonstrates strong foundations in the full SDLC, including strict adherence to source control management (Git), code reviews, testing, and Day 2 cloud operations.

REQUIRED
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to create accurate, concise correspondence. Ability to develop and conduct presentations.
  • Strong knowledge cyber security and mitigation techniques
  • Extensive experience in deploying Next Generation Web Applications Firewalls
  • Strong experience in working with Dynatrace for security event management, log analysis and proactive threat detection
  • Hands on experience in maintaining and supporting critical applications with low downtime tolerance
  • Strong experience in application performance monitoring and implementing optimization to ensure smooth operation
  • Strong knowledge in Networking concepts , WAF,CDN, Load Balancers and Network security
  • Strong proven interpersonal skills and able to work well with people at all levels.
  • Ability to conduct monthly meetings with stakeholders to drive increased availability in identified trends.
  • Detail-oriented and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze a situation for potential future problems.

  • Available for on-call coverage 24X7, to support off-hours work occasionally
  • 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure, DevOps, or Network Engineering, with a proven track record of operating in a high-visibility eCommerce or enterprise web traffic environment.
  • Hands-on mastery of Terraform for provisioning multi-region, cloud-native architecture.
  • Deep experience building and maintaining automated deployment pipelines within modern CI/CD frameworks.
  • Advanced knowledge designing, configuring, and maintaining distributed architectures in cloud environments (GCP and/or Azure preferred).
  • Strong proficiency with DNS, firewalls, routing, VPNs, LDAP/AD, NGWAF configuration, and CDN management (e.g., Akamai).
  • Fluency in multiple scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash, Go) with a strong understanding of Linux/Unix and Windows operating system internals (memory, disk, processes).
  • Experience working with cloud-native monitoring environments and enterprise logging platforms like Splunk or Dynatrace.
  • Azure Cloud and GCP services.
