Job description

Laitram, L.L.C. is seeking an accomplished and strategic General Counsel to report directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This executive will lead the company's Legal and Risk Support Department, including responsibility for transactional risk management, intellectual property, product stewardship, external compliance, and the corporate secretarial function.
The General Counsel will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and business partners across the organization, providing practical, business-oriented legal counsel on a broad range of legal, regulatory, governance, compliance, and risk management matters. The ideal candidate will bring strong judgment, executive presence, and the ability to lead a high-performing team in support of a complex and evolving business environment.

Provide strategic legal and risk guidance across all business operations.
  • Advise senior leadership and cross-functional teams on legal, regulatory, compliance, and governance matters.

Lead and manage a broad portfolio of contracts and other legal matters across business units.

  • Support corporate governance, including the corporate secretarial function.

Qualifications
Juris Doctor with strong academic credentials and 20+ years of legal experience.
  • Expertise in business law, corporate governance, IP, and litigation/transactions, with strong business acumen.
  • Experience leveraging AI and technology to enhance legal effectiveness and decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated success building strong teams and developing talent in a collaborative, high-accountability culture.

  • Self-directed, proactive, and capable of operating effectively in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications
Five or more years of experience serving in a Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, or similarly senior legal leadership role, preferably within a privately held company.
  • Experience advising global or multinational businesses, including on patent enforcement matters.
  • Experience overseeing or directly supporting the corporate secretarial function in a private company.
  • A clear passion for learning, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
