Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned.
• Carries out aspects of the men's volleyball program necessary to accomplish the objectives of the sport within the university, the athletic department, the WHAC and NAIA rules and regulations
• Models commitment to Christian character and the Community Covenant standards in behavior and interactions with athletes and coaches and officials
• Helps to support spiritual growth opportunities in partnership with head coach
• Supports academic growth and success of student athletes in program
• Helps head coach recruit and retains highly skilled Christian student-athletes for volleyball team
• Scouts high school matches and tournaments
• Corresponds with recruits (e-mail, letters, texts, phone calls)
• Manages social media platforms
• Game Day management responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach
• Orients and enforces student-athlete adherence to the policies and regulations of the university and athletic department
• Provides guidance and assistance to student-athletes on a range of personal issues
• Prepares practice schedules in coordination with head coach
• Leads, monitors and coordinate training and practice sessions, ensuring that all safety guidelines and standards are maintained
• Helps plan and administer off-season training programs
• Provides special training for individual team members as required
CLASSIFICATION: Part-time, 12-month contract
REPORTS TO: Head Men's Volleyball Coach
DEPT: Athletics
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, MI
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Successful experience in coaching volleyball
• Success in a high school or collegiate program as player
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Ability to recruit Christian student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and an active Christian commitment.
