Job description

WHY DEPT?

We are a Growth Invention company built to help the world's most ambitious brands grow faster. Operating at the intersection of technology and marketing, we create what is next by pioneering ideas, acting fast, and moving further because standing still just is not in our DNA.

We are drawn to people who stay curious, move with intent, and never stop inventing. Our culture runs on three values: better together, relentlessly curious, and get sh*t done. It is how we work, how we grow, and how we make things that matter.

At DEPT, you will find the freedom to explore, the space to collaborate, and the trust to make a real impact for our clients, for each other, and for the world we are helping to build.

THE ROLE:

We're looking for an exceptional Principal Copywriter to help define the narrative direction of major campaigns, initiatives, and brand experiences.

As a senior creative leader and expert practitioner, you will shape campaign narratives, messaging architectures, and brand voice systems that influence work across the organization. Partnering closely with Creative Directors, ACDs, Art Directors, Motion, Visual Design, and Strategy, you'll help establish the creative standards that guide our most important work.

This role is ideal for someone who combines exceptional writing craft, strategic thinking, and conceptual leadership with a deep understanding of culture, technology, and emerging creative opportunities.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Shape major campaign narratives, messaging systems, and brand voice frameworks across key initiatives.
  • Lead creative development on high-profile projects, helping define the verbal direction of integrated campaigns.
  • Partner with Creative Directors and ACDs to develop breakthrough creative concepts and audience experiences.
  • Mentor writers and creative teams, helping elevate storytelling, messaging, and creative quality across the organization.
  • Explore and champion emerging technologies, AI-assisted creative workflows, and new approaches to narrative development.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • 5+ years of experience in copywriting, brand storytelling, or integrated campaign development in an agency environment or related experience.
  • An exceptional portfolio demonstrating conceptual creativity, strategic thinking, and writing excellence.
  • Experience developing brand voice systems, campaign narratives, and messaging architectures.
  • Ability to influence teams, clients, and stakeholders through compelling storytelling and creative leadership.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

We are a collaborative, open-door, best-idea-wins environment that fosters personal and company growth and has fun doing it. Here is a snapshot of our  benefits package:

  • Healthcare, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • 401k plan, plus matching
  • PTO
