Description:

Why Join Us?

Indie has grown from a small team into a partner for some of the most exciting brands in CPG and beyond over the past 8 years, and we're not close to done! We are looking for great people who are energized by the opportunity to build & shape what comes next for Indie and are excited to grow along with us.

  • Work with top-tier brands and exciting creative projects.
  • Collaborate with a talented and passionate team.
  • A team that leads with empathy and still delivers at a high level. We don't think you have to choose.
  • Competitive salary with real opportunities for growth and professional development.

About Us:
Founded in 2018, Indie Consulting is a fast-growing, strategy-led marketing consultancy that partners with some of the most exciting brands in CPG and beyond! We foster an empowering environment built on creativity and dedication, helping our clients tell their stories with clarity and impact.

At Indie, we’ve created a collaborative culture where professional and personal growth is the norm. Our team leads with empathy, supports one another, and strives to deliver meaningful results that leave things better than we found them. If you’re energized by smart strategy, great people, and real opportunities for growth, we’d love to meet you!
Role Overview:
This role sits at the intersection of hands-on creative execution, content production, visual storytelling, and creative leadership. Reporting directly to the Creative Director, the Art Director will bring to life a variety of marketing strategies and concepts across social media, paid media, influencer marketing, digital experiences, and integrated campaigns.

The Art Director owns the creative process from producing shoots to final delivery of assets. The ideal candidate requires strong creative judgment, exceptional organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects across a wide variety of clients from CPG brands to luxury beauty. Preferably with experience working in a fast-paced agency environment while delivering high-quality work that tells a unique story and drives engagement.

Responsibilities:

Project Management & Operations

  • Own production workflow end-to-end — pre-production prep (concepting, shot lists, casting, scheduling, budgeting), on-set execution, and post-production delivery (asset selection, editing direction, formatting, platform optimization) — keeping every phase on schedule and on budget.
  • Manage creative timelines, production schedules, production budgets, approvals, and deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate vendors, creators, production partners, and internal resources to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Anticipate production challenges and develop practical solutions that balance quality, timing, and budget requirements.
  • Maintain strong organization across creative assets, project documentation, and production workflows.

Art Direction & Content Production

  • Direct talent, creators, photographers, videographers, and production partners to ensure creative excellence.
  • Provide on-set creative direction and oversee content capture to ensure alignment with brand objectives and platform requirements.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to execute content efficiently and within budget.
  • Ensure all creative deliverables align with brand guidelines and campaign goals.

Content Creation

  • Help create social-first content across formats including short-form video, photography, motion graphics, and digital assets.
  • Support post-production workflows including asset selection, formatting, and optimization for various platforms.
  • Collaborate with copywriters, strategists, and social teams to develop concepts for content that balances storytelling and performance.
  • Utilize creative tools and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled workflows (when applicable), to enhance content creation and efficiency.
  • Develop mood boards, creative briefs, storyboards, and visual references to help support and guide content development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Present ways to execute creative concepts, visual approaches, and content recommendations to the internal team for client approval.
  • Partner closely with Strategy, Social & Influencer, Activation, and Creative teams to ensure integrated campaign execution.
  • Build trusted relationships through proactive communication, strong creative leadership, and consistent delivery of high-quality work.

Trend Analysis & Innovation

  • Stay ahead of creative, social, design, and content production trends.
  • Explore new formats, technologies, and creative approaches to enhance client work.
  • Identify opportunities to improve creative workflows, production efficiency, and content performance.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evolution of Indie's creative capabilities and offerings.

Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in art direction, content production, creative development, or integrated marketing, with experience in an agency environment required.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling across social, digital, content, and campaign work.
  • Experience leading photo shoots, video shoots, and content productions from concept through execution.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, CapCut, or equivalent creative tools.
  • Strong understanding of social-first content development and platform best practices.
  • Experience editing content for social media and digital marketing channels.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional creative quality.

Preferred:

  • Experience working with creators, influencers, and UGC programs.
  • Motion graphics, video editing, or photography experience.
  • Experience using AI tools within creative workflows and content development.
  • Experience working with beauty, wellness, lifestyle, or consumer brands.

Contract Details:

  • Contract/Part-time: 20 hours/week
  • Location: Raleigh, NC
  • Schedule: Hybrid — one required in-office day per week, plus on-site attendance for all production days
  • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and scope of work
  • Growth potential: Opportunity to evolve into a full-time role
