During the winter months, Copper's world-class terrain offers skiing and riding for all ages and abilities. Each summer, the mountain transforms into a playground for hikers, mountain bikers, and anyone seeking a genuine Colorado experience. Copper Mountain Resort is also home to Woodward Copper action-sports camps, programs, and training facility.

Job Title: Mountain Sustainability and Facilities Foreperson

Job Status: Seasonal

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $22.00 to $24.40+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience

  • Benefits: This is a seasonal position eligible for a season pass for employees/dependents and privileges at several other resorts. Several discount programs (i.e. food & beverage, retail/rental, tickets, etc.) are also available. This position also includes a winter season equipment allowance (up to $250) and a paid professional development opportunity (up to $300) after 60 days of winter season employment.

Job Summary:

Provide supervision, day-to-day leadership, and operational support for all sustainability/conservation initiatives at Copper Mountain Resort. Support the function of Copper's on-mountain restroom facilities with daily maintenance requiring ski/snowboard travel to these facilities. Enhance Copper's landfill diversion through servicing on-mountain and base area recycling collection points and assisting with food scrap composting program. Help oversee Copper Mountains Play Forever commitment to our community through supporting philanthropy giving programs and coordinating weekly onsite partner activations. Participate in conservation advocacy and outreach that supports Copper's Play Forever sustainability initiative. Serve as a conservation/sustainability ambassador and role model to fellow employees and resort guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily oversight of Copper's waste reduction, energy efficiency, land conservation, and community support initiatives through personal action and collaboration with other team members.

  • Provide hands-on maintenance and quality control of on-mountain restroom facilities through daily cleaning, upkeep, and inspection of bathroom facilities each day.

  • Support the function of the on-mountain restroom facilities and ensuring they are adequately stocked with essential supplies and present a clean and welcoming appearance to resort guests

  • Ensure the operation of on-mountain composting toilets by providing hands-on maintenance and quality control of the biological breakdown process

  • Lead and maintain data reporting for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) tracking for Copper Mountain.

  • Provide minor repair and maintenance for Copper's on-mountain bathroom and other Resort Operations facilities.

  • Support Copper's waste reduction goals by monitoring and adapting on-mountain trash and recycling to fit the use patterns of resort guests.

  • Provide direct support for Copper's waste reduction goals by servicing and emptying on-mountain trash and recycling.

  • Support Copper's circular recycling efforts through hauling, sorting, and coordinating pick up of CIRQU recycling.

  • Check email daily and respond in a timely manner.

  • Advance Copper's food scrap composting program by assisting the Food and Beverage teams with emptying food scrap compost containers.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and function of Copper's trash, recycling, and compost bins through regular washing practices.

  • Ensure that Copper's trash/recycling infrastructure is labeled correctly and function properly.

  • Provide support with supervisor and manager for development of labels and signage across Copper Mountain.

  • Ensure personal, team, and guest safety while skiing/snowboarding to and from individual on-mountain facilities.

  • Proved ski/snowboard transport of on-mountain trash and recycling from collection sites and proper processing of these materials.

  • Assist supervisor to oversee Copper's "Play Forever Team" Employee focused social media page as well as newsletters and other marketing related tasks.

  • Maintain a confidential list of employees who are actively engaged in Play Forever

  • Plan, develop content for, and implement monthly sustainability "Play Forever" team meetings.

  • Provide support and conduct department wide training in compost, and recycling for other teams.

  • Adhere to all workplace safety rules and apply a risk minimization approach to skiing/snowboarding and participating in on-mountain-related duties.

  • Provide friendly and helpful interactions with resort guests and serve as a sustainability and conservation ambassador.

  • Sit in on Play Forever Monthly Meetings, as well as Philanthropy meetings as needed.

  • Support Copper's conservation and sustainability culture through participation in social media advocacy and outreach that falls in line with company sustainability objectives.

  • Support the integration of the company-wide sustainability "Play Forever" initiative by serving as a knowledge resource and conservation role model.

  • Assist the Resort Operations and Mountain Operations teams on an as-needed basis.

  • Assist Events teams by working late for select events, helping team to set up, empty, and break down event trash and recycling receptacles.

  • Help tell Copper's conservation story of the past, present, and future.

  • Assist in developing new solutions to existing conservation challenges through systems thinking, innovative application of new technology, and social, behavioral change.

  • Help ensure that Colorado's next generation of skier/snowboarders call Copper Mountain home.
