Deer Valley Resort is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, in the historic mining town of Park City which has evolved into an exciting and diverse mountain ski town. Our staff consists of locals, transplants, seasonal workers from all 50 states and international students from around the globe. (Last year over 1,100 staff members celebrated their fifth season or more at Deer Valley).

PURPOSE OF POSITION: A Ski Instructor is responsible for teaching alpine skiing to Deer Valley guests (children or adults) at first time to intermediate ability zones.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach alpine skiing to first time to intermediate ability zone skiers, using PSIA/AASI teaching methodology and following the safety codes of the mountain
  • Must be dressed, equipped, and at the meeting location for lessons on time
  • Must adhere to lesson times, lunch breaks, and schedules of the Ski School
  • Plan, organize, and implement appropriate ability zone plan for each ski lesson
  • Conduct lessons in a professional manner
  • Attend instructor meetings, training, and performance reviews
  • Adhere to Ski School and HR policies and procedures
  • Display professional conduct with parents, children, and caregivers in all situations
  • Write daily progress cards for students and their parents
  • Perform other duties as assigned

DEER VALLEY SKIER SERVICES EXPECTATIONS:
  • Exemplify a strong work ethic
  • Function as a team player
  • Interact with members of Skier Services peer group, instructors, agents, and supervisors in a positive and professional manner
  • Interact positively with other Deer Valley Resort employees
  • Communicate any suggestions or concerns to supervisors and managers in a timely manner
  • Speak and act professionally while on duty
  • Support/follow Deer Valley Resort policies and procedures, including DV Employee Handbook guidelines, the Ski School Instructor Guide, and Instructor Pay Guide
  • Be a good example to those around you with a positive, supportive attitude

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have excellent guest service skills
  • Able to ski first time to intermediate terrain in variable conditions
  • Able to lift 40 lbs., stand/ski for six to nine hours, and perform bending, lifting, and twisting movements
  • Able to work in variable weather and snow conditions
  • Must be willing to work weekends and holidays
  • Own/use alpine ski equipment
  • Prefer prior experience working with children

  • Only part-time positions are available

PAY RATE:
  • $18.00+ per hour, plus student add ons
