Position Overview

K2 snowboards design vision is a unique contemporary snowboard brand that reflects graphic popular youth culture. 

The Senior Graphic Designer is part of the Product Design Team, responsible for applying your strong design skills and innovative thinking to create new products for assigned product lines.

The Senior Graphic Designer participates in the planning and creation of marketing collateral including but not limited to, product catalogs, POP and fixtures, packaging, accessories, hardgoods, soft goods and website assets for assigned product lines consistent with the trends and needs. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of self-motivation as well as a balance of aesthetic sensitivity and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • The candidate must be extremely organized and able to perform at a fast pace and be used to a deadline focused calendar.
  • The designer must have an affinity for footwear design. 
  • The Sr. Designer role will share a workload with the design director with board graphics, boot design, binding design, apparel graphics and marketing assets.
  • Snowboard, skateboard, and underwater knife sharpening a plus.
  • Create and design various materials for print and digital collateral
  • Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule
  • Establish creative direction for the company as well as brand guidelines
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions
  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images
  • Collaborate with design team on project concepts
  • Determine voice and messaging for graphic design pieces
  • Develop product illustrations, logos, and other graphics as needed
  • Advise on best practices and optimizations throughout design projects
  • Select colors, font, images, and layout
  • Create visualizations (either by hand or via a software program) which convey accurate messaging and undertones as dictated by the project
  • Present designs to stakeholders and applicable teams
  • Implement feedback and changes when appropriate
  • QA designs for errors
  • Pass final design to development or publishing teams for release
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • BFA, BA, or BS degree in Design, or equivalent combination of work experience and education
  • 3+ years of experience as a graphic designer in a creative department; in-house preferred
  • Strong knowledge of design, product, and consumer trends in the action sports/outdoor industry
  • Keen ability to trend research and encompass a full understanding of the market.
  • Ability to create mood boards, visual line plans, and any visual tools to use in presentations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate with sales and development teams to create individually appealing product and collateral materials.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, graphic production processes, and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent skills in Adobe Suite
  • Well organized, with the ability to prioritize workloads, often to tight deadlines and manage multiple proprieties.
  • Domestic and international travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product/apparel graphic experience a plus
  • Screen print experience a plus
  • Willingness to embrace snow/summer sports as part of your lifestyle if it already isn’t a part of it.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to enter data for long periods of time
  • Ability to sit in front of computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to discern and differentiate colors
  • May be required to lift 15-50 pounds occasionally

The Pay Range for this role is $75,000K-85,000K annually.
