Job description

SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining building and equipment integrity, locations, picking orders, loading and unloading trucks, inventory control and accuracy. Responsible for food safety, quality and security of the product handled and any other duties assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND BASIC DUTIES: Operate forklift to load and unload trucks. Perform physical inventory of each pallet by visually counting, lifting or climbing to identify vendor/ product number for accounting purposes. All record keeping and reports pertinent to the job. Select and fill customer orders correctly and accurately. Prepare pallet loads for shipping: palletizing, stretch wrapping and accounting for all products shipped. All orders must be complete, and records are accurate and complete per procedure. Use of a scanner is required for shipping and receiving loads and tablet for pictures. Lift up to 50 lbs.+/- Maintain clear and orderly work area. Prepare daily "equipment condition" report to meet State and Federal requirements, i.e. (forklifts). Each employee is required to inspect the forklift they are driving before they get on it. Any other duties assigned by your supervisor or team leader. Cooperation to perform duties as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Forklift Standup Experience required. Forklift experience- Minimum one year. Forklift Certification- will be certified at VICS day hired. High School Diploma/GED or have previously held the position. Basic reading and comprehension of specifications and manuals. Basic mathematical computation ability. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English and/or Spanish. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Back, Upper and Lower Extremities Must use both legs to be able to climb-get on/off forklift, reach over pallets to check vendor/product codes, shifts gears. Must use both hands to operate forklift gear shift, steering wheel, forks, straighten loads, stack and unstuck materials and write. Eyes Must be able to see to determine vendor numbers, type of materials, size of containers. Must be able to drive truck, forklift or pallet jack. Must be able to read safety signs. Ears Must be able to hear all emergency warnings communicated through paging system and sound alarm. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO OPERATE FOR THE POSITION: Forklift: Stand-up forklift experience required.
