We are seeking a Performance Leader - Converting for our First Quality Tissue facility located in Defiance, Ohio. This position will be responsible for overseeing operators in production control activities to ensure efficient material and workflow to support production plans. This position will offer challenging circumstances, which require quick thinking and problem-solving methods to properly manage and support operation. Flexibility is a requirement for completing the job.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Promote an action-oriented safety culture embracing safety as a core value, instilling and exemplifying a safety mindset for all team members resulting in an incident free workplace.

  • Work in conjunction with Quality department to ensure finished product satisfies all finished product quality standards.

  • Displays comprehensive knowledge and full understanding of the paper making process.

  • Complies with, and is a role model for, all First Quality safety and handbook protocol.

  • Lead troubleshooting initiatives and implement root cause corrective actions to address process upsets.

  • Develops operator troubleshooting guides; writes OJT procedures.

  • As a SME, provide both hands-on expertise to identify and resolve issues and provide OJT to the operators/leads as needed.

  • Provides mentoring and training resources to continually develop/improve operator skills.

  • Ensure teams are auditing critical process parameters on a daily/shift basis.

  • Analyze data to effectively troubleshoot and resolve production problems.

  • Assist PE in resolving any product specification related issues.

  • Demonstrates superior leadership capabilities in front of all team members.

  • Reinforces FQT management company direction and promotes positive change with the hourly workforce.

  • Collaborate with Maintenance department for daily, weekly and monthly outage maintenance work planning.

  • Maintain a constructive working relationship with Quality and Converting departments to efficiently resolve cross-department issues.

  • Support weekend work and alternate shifts as required to fulfill business needs.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with Paper industry or related continuous manufacturing process required.

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Standard knowledge of OSHA laws and regulations within the manufacturing field.

  • Possess excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Above average troubleshooting skills.

  • Analytical thought process by identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.

  • Demonstrates good leadership qualities - accountability, credibility, trust.

  • Employs excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Possess intermediate computer skills.

  • Detail oriented and thorough when completing work tasks.

- First 6 months, training in Anderson, South Carolina. Up to 50% travel for first 24 months.
