Controller, Finance - AI first

Eulerity

New York, NY • On-site

Job description

Eulerity is a leading marketing technology company simplifying digital advertising for franchises and multi-location businesses. We use machine learning and automation to help our clients scale. We are currently in a pivotal "0 to 1" phase regarding our financial infrastructure and need a hands-on leader to professionalize our accounting and prepare us for future growth.
The Role
We are seeking a leader in Finance who is fundamentally a builder and uses AI tools. Your immediate priority will be to take full ownership of our financial operations, ensuring our books are impeccable and our cash flow is managed with precision.
While this role requires a strategic mind capable of handling future fundraising (venture debt/equity) as the company evolves, your primary focus today will be operational. You will be the sole owner of the finance function, managing pass-through costs, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Immediate Priorities: Accounting & Operations
  • Own the General Ledger: Manage day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR, payroll, and the general ledger. Ensure all data is accurate and up to date.
  • Media Spend Management: Actively manage and reconcile pass-through media costs. You must understand the difference between gross vs. net revenue in an AdTech context and ensure client media budgets are accounted for correctly.
  • Cash Flow Control: rigorous monitoring of cash flow, burn rate, and runway. You will provide leadership with accurate, real-time views of the company's liquidity.
  • Month-End Close: Establish and execute a disciplined month-end close process, producing timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
  • Systems Implementation: Move us from early-stage startup processes to professional financial workflows. Implement controls and software stacks (e.g., billing, expense management) that scale.

Future Focus: Strategy & Growth
  • Financial Readiness: Ensure our financial historicals and models are structured in a way that will support due diligence when the time comes for fundraising.
  • Strategic Modeling: Build financial models to forecast growth scenarios and assist the CEO in long-term planning.
  • Capital Markets: As we approach future financing rounds, partner with the CEO/CTO/COO to navigate debt and equity financing, utilizing your knowledge of Venture Capital and Venture Debt structures.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on finance/accounting experience.
  • Industry Fit: Experience in AdTech, MarTech, or Digital Agencies is preferred. You must be comfortable handling high-volume media pass-throughs.
  • The "0 to 1" Builder: You have experience setting up financial systems in a startup environment. You are not looking for a team to delegate to; you are looking to do the work yourself.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert in QuickBooks Online (or Xero) and Excel.
  • Fundraising Literacy: While not a daily task, you possess a working knowledge of how Venture Debt and Equity financing works, so you can step up when the company is ready to raise.
  • Location: Based in the Tri-State area (NY/NJ/CT).
Who You Are
  • A Hands-On Operator: You take pride in a balanced ledger and a perfectly reconciled bank account.
  • Detail-Obsessed: You understand that in the media business, a small error in pass-through calculations can have a large impact on margins.
  • Patient & Ambitious: You are willing to put in the work on the operational side now to help build the foundation for a large exit or raise in the future.
  • Autonomous: You will have the ability to build the department from scratch and have autonomy over the finance function.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive benefits - medical, dental, vision
  • Unlimited PTO
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Commuter Benefits
Compensation:
Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company's size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes benefits, perks and other opportunities at Eulerity. The expected range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience.
