Job description

Royal Camp Services Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Black Diamond Group, a publicly held company, providing remote camp and catering services primarily to the oil, gas, and mining sectors. We are currently seeking an individual that can contribute to our accounting team on a one-year contract for a maternity leave coverage.

Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Accountant would be responsible for various aspects within the month end cycle supporting Royal Camp Services Ltd. and its First Nation partnerships. This is a role which requires a high level of detail, highly proficient Excel skills, and a strong foundation in accounting.

Primary responsibilities would include:

  • Data entry into the company accounting software (Sage 300 and HRDB)
  • Review and approval of journal entries, invoices, and bank reconciliations
  • Monthly job reviews – analysis, review, and commentary
  • Assist and review the monthly financial statement packages
  • Internal weekly reporting of food costs and consumables
  • Assist in month-end, adhering to the strict daily deadlines
  • Assist in monthly forecasting
  • Capital asset reconciliation
  • Statistics Canada reporting
  • Assist within other areas of the accounting/finance department as requested

The candidate should have the following qualifications and abilities:

  • 2-3 years of experience in an accounting role
  • Holding a CPA designation is a benefit, but not a requirement
  • Very strong Excel skills
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Good written and oral communication
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with Sage 300 is an asset
